"Mitch, you alright?"

After the nuke ordeal Mitch had taken on smaller, but still dangerous missions. Annika stayed by his side every mission. They had become partners and anyone with eyes could see something brewing between the two.

Mitch noticed it too and was hesitant to see the truth about their relationship because in his mind Katrina would always be the one for him but  the more he thought about it the more he saw that it was okay if something was happening between Annika and him.

He saw that even though Katrina would always be in his heart and he would never forget her or the love they shared, it was okay to fall for someone new. Annika was that someone new. From the first time they looked at each other everyone saw that the two had a connection the way she looked at him when they were getting in the car for his first mission, it was inevitable.

Some might argue that it was love at first sight. 

After their latest mission they had gone back to their hotel to rest a bit before heading over to Stan's house because Irene wanted to talk with them about something. When they got there, there was a particular sort of tension in the air.

Mitch pulled away looking at Annika in the eyes and as if she could read his mind she said "It's okay. I know you love her, you always will, I get that. But it's okay to want to be happy Mitch. You deserve it and I think she'd want you to be happy too."

Mitch stared at Annika for a few minutes before leaning in and kissing her in a passionate, hungry way. He thought about what she said and knew she was right and he was grateful for what she had said.

Saying that surprised both Annika and Mitch. He was surprised he said that and after the initial shock she smiled at him saying "I am not the easiest person to be with either but I guess we're in the same boat so thank you too.'She said laying back down on his shoulder 'And you're welcome."

He smiled down at her as he saw her close her eyes and drift off to sleep. He watched her for a few more minutes before closing his eyes, succumbing to the sleep with a small smile still on his face. The first genuine smile he's had on his face in a long time.

This is a pretty long chapter. It wasn't supposed to turn out as a smut chapter but I'm not mad. Let me know if I did a good job at writing it cause I don't know.😅
