Chloé POV
__________

The Dark lord came to the field a few minutes after Lucius called for him. Everyone kept telling me that I've only made it worse, that we could've done it already and I'd be free. Even Draco, who supported me in this, now looks worried as ever.

Maybe I should't have done this...

But there's no time for doubts, he's here and I have to be strong. Or at least pretend.

He came with a dark fog around him that faded away quickly. I've noticed how the air got suddenly even colder than it was before. I glanced at Draco, who's standing right next to me, and I can see the fear in his eyes while Iooking at him.

I've never seen such a...creature. I imagined him to be everything but not this. His pale, almost white, skin is covered in black habit that consisted of black long dress and dark cloak over it. His eyes are red and evil. The moment you look at him, you know he's up to no good.

When he asked who called him, Belatrix pointed her wand at me. I nearly jump every time she does this, it's a reflex thing. He immediately turned his head to me, his red eyes are looking straight into mine.

So this is the one who has been messing with my head and making me faint for the last weeks. I guess my occlumency classes at Beauxbatons weren't good enough if I could let him in.

"What is the problem?" He asked me.

I'm trying to keep it cool but underneath, I know I'm screaming.

"Is the task too hard? Do you want me to hold your hand, little girl?" He has exactly the kind of voice that goes through your ears to your head and makes you feel very uncomfortable.

Belatrix and two other Death eaters started laughing at me and I'm not really surprised. I must look so stupid, so desperate, standing there in front of him, not knowing what to do or what to say.

I want to close my eyes and make all this go away, I want to open them and find myself in my bedroom, laying next to sleeping Draco.

"No." I replied, trying to make my voice as clear as possible without cracking or stuttering.

I'm not breaking eye contact with him, even though his eyes are really scary. It's still dark outside, I guess it can be somewhere between 3AM and 4AM. Soon, the sun will rise and everything will go away, I'll go home and never think of this again. It has to be like that.

I know my next words will sound unbelievable, maybe even unreal, but I have to try it.

"I want you to swear you won't kill my mother, you won't kill Draco and his family," I looked at him, "or Blaise. Swear to it or you're gonna have to find someone else to do the task."

There was silence for a few seconds, but if felt like hours. My breath got heavy and I felt warm spreading through my body, but at the same time, I was shivering in cold. The closer he is, the colder the air gets.

"Do you want to add someone to your list or is that it?" He asked sarcastically and looked around for his followers as he expected them to laugh at his joke.

When he did so, Belatrix started hysterically laughing, but her face looked confused. I could swear I saw the corners of Blaise's father going up into a smile.
