A reader commented on Chapter 2 and asked when the flashback took place and I loved their trail of thought! Unless otherwise noted/insinuated in the flashback or explicitly said by a character, a lot of these flashbacks with just Demetri, Eli, and Zelena occur in Freshman year of high school- prior to Miguel moving to West Valley and the whole Cobra Kai thing.
I made this decision based on seeing everyone's character interactions at the beginning of Season 1 and how there are cliques laid out and everyone knows their place. Obviously people want to fit in, but no one is actively seeking where they fit into (if that makes sense to y'all). Season 2 seemingly takes place, at least in my mind, at about the end of 1st quarter or beginning of second quarter. Sam, especially in this season, has a car and license. Moon's party in this season is a factor I also considered as the teens are incredibly comfortable with the idea of drinking (parents are also extremely lenient with their teen's freedoms) and it's an 'end of summer' bash. And at the end of Season 2 where the fight sequence takes place, they're beginning a new school year.
Essentially, Chapters 12 and the near future take place in their Junior (11th grade) year of high school! So keep that in mind as you read!
