A/N: Please, have patient with Mew and Gulf, there are getting there. *Cold feet (Afraid to do something). Pic. c. to the owners.
A day earlier...
Mew looked over the rearview mirror and noticed Gulf, standing on the sidewalk, motionless.
For a moment, he had an impulse to stop the car and go to him, to hug him. "Did I shock him that much? Was I too bold? Mew, you want to back off, but then dropped that bomb on him. Why you like to push him so much?"
Mew looked again and noticed that Gulf was walking away. He felt a sense of relief. Right there, his phone started to ring again. He looked, hoping it was Gulf, but feeling guilty, he whines, noticing that it was Panit.
Mew hit the answer button and put the phone on speaker since he was driving. "Hello, Panit. How are your days relaxing?" Mew, once again, stopped at another red light.
He was surprised when it was another voice that answered him. "It is me, love. Your mother. How are you?
"Mom? What happened to your phone?" Mew's voice sounded alarming. He knows that his mom never leaves her phone anywhere.
Mew could hear Lamai talking with Panit about where to go for lunch. "Oh, I dropped it on the pool by mistake. I feel like something is missing. We took it to the store to be fixed. I will have to get it tomorrow. I am calling to see how's everything with you and you know, Gulf." For a split second, Mew was happy the light changes to green. He can forget about that question for a moment and concentrate on driving.
"We are still the same. I told him how I feel about him and that I will back off." Mew knew that, in a way, he was not telling the whole truth.
He knows that Lamai told him to take it easy with Gulf, but that day on his birthday, he went the other way and almost force Gulf to do something he did not want to.
Lamai could sense that there was something else; she knows her son and his behaviors. Mew's voice sounded retrained. Being Lamai, she knows she has to ask, so she did.
"Mew? What's wrong? I know you are not telling me anything. You know you can tell me; I will not judge you, but I will listen to you. Please, tell me." Lamai's sweet voice made Mew smiles; it always does. Of course, he can trust her, after all, she has been with him his entire life and never felt ashamed to be himself in front of her.
"I made something so stupid, Lamai. You are always telling me to don't be so impulsive, but my bad habit always kicks in. On Gulf's birthday, I almost kissed him, but he ran away from me." Mew does not need to be looking at Lamai to know what she was thinking.
"Mew, darling, I know I told you that I will not judge you. But what is going on with you lately? You seem to do the opposite of the things I tell you. Son, if you keep doing that, you will lose him forever. Gulf is the kind of person that needs time to think, to feel he is in control. If you go and do things like that, he will get scared and walk away. You should know that by now." Lamai's sweet voice disappeared, Mew was not surprised to hear the mad tone on her voice.
"I know Lamai; I spoke with him this morning and told him; I will back off. I will give him the space he needs. Right now, I am on my way to Sadik's house. I will spend the night there. One because of Gulf and the other because Sadik needs my help with something." Mew was having a hard time driving and talking to Lamai, so he decided to end the call.
