Barry was smiling to himself as he worked. His latte might be a tease, but she was a great motivator. He had got almost half of all their work done, after his and Caitlins little exercise together. That's why, even though, he should of left ages ago, he was on a roll and determined to finish everything before he went home. He stood up as he heard the door open

"Oh, I'm glad you're still here. We need you and your expertise downstairs in room 2"

"What's the matter?"

"Don't know. A case has just come up. The detectives have almost finished questioning them, now go do your magic"

Barry grabbed his kit, and ran downstairs. He was feeling good today. He didn't care how long it took, he'd happily stay there all night to relive what had happened earlier. Barry entered the room and dropped his kit in shock. Sitting there, being questioned by the detectives was his latte. Barry just wanted to run up to her, and hold her in his arms.

"Look, I've told you everything I know. Please just let me go"

Barry clenched his fist in anger. Couldn't they see how upset they were making her? The detectives turned to look at him

"Ok sunshine, time to do your magic"

Barry ran up to Caitlin. She was sat in the chair, quietly sobbing. Barry wanted to hug her, but he knew that would contaminate vital evidence. Caitlin looked at him. He handed her a t-shirt and bottoms, and pointed to the bathroom. Caitlin took the clothes and quickly went and got changed, and deposited her clothes in the evidence bag. Barry got to work, collecting evidence from Caitlin.

"Wait Barry. I think you're missing something"

"What?"

"I scratched him, and got some of his DNA underneath my nails"

"Latte, your a CSI experts dream. I could kiss you right now"

"Please don't"

Barry collected the evidence and sealed it. He looked around for his latte, and found her on a chair, shivering. He crouched infront of her

"What were you doing working so late?"

"Well with the weather this bad, I'm staying late to help as many old people as I can"

"So he was waiting for you outside the hospital?"

"No. Occasionally I visit some of my old patients at home, those who can't make it to the hospital"

"So he cornered you there?"

Caitlin said nothing

"How'd you get to be such a bad ass latte?"

"I took some self defence classes in my old job. Thought they might be useful"

Barry noticed Caitlin was beginning to shut down

"Come on latte, talk to me. Shout, scream, do whatever you want, but don't shut down on me. Tell me you hate me. You love doing that"

"What do you want me to say Barry, huh? About how the fact that I was terrified that he was going to kill me, and that it was my instinct that saved me?"

Caitlin took a few deep breaths, as Barry held her. Caitlin punched Barry's chest, trying to get away, but Barry held her tighter. Eventually Caitlin gave up and broke down in Barry's arms. Barry hugged her close as she let out huge sobs.

"Come on, I'm taking you home. Don't argue with me latte. Just please let me do this"

Caitlin nodded and let Barry take her home.

"Alright, you go upstairs and have a bath. I'll get us some food"

Caitlin nodded and went to have a bath. She came down feeling refreshed.  She ate her food in silence, then went to bed. In the middle of the night, Barry heard screaming. He rushed upstairs

"It's ok latte, I'm here. No need to be scared" said Barry hugging Caitlin

Barry held Caitlin until she fell asleep. He decided to sleep on the floor, just in case his latte had another nightmare. He vowed to himself there and then that he would do whatever necessary to protect his latte. He would never leave her alone. He'd always be by her side, to protect her and love her
