Chapter 15

RECAP:

As if he could sense me Ari’s face snapped up, smiling at me like he’d won the lottery and winked mischievously.

I felt my breath get knocked out of me for a second as my stomach erupted in butterflies. I felt myself instantaneously smile back at him, which seemed to make him smile even more.

Oh Isobel…stop staring at your best friend like a lovesick puppy….

Hmmm… if only I could.

On impulse I stuck out my tongue like a true three year old before I turned around, jogging up the stairs as I heard the comforting sound of Ari’s laughter in the kitchen.

……………………………………………………………..

When I got into my bedroom I closed the door behind me and turned on my radio just as Pink’s ‘Raise your Glass’ started playing.

I wonder where were going to go…. Who cares I’m going out with Ari for the first time in eight months! We could be serving cheeseburgers in McDonalds and it would still be fun.

I smiled singing along softly to the opening line ‘right right, turn off the lights, were gonna loose our minds tonight…’ as I stripped off my pyjama bottoms and Ari’s t-shirt, inhaling the fabric of his top slightly before throwing them both into my dirty laundry basket.

I still had on my black lacy set so I quickly peeled them off into the basket too and replaced them with a matching lacy lavender bra and knickers set that I fished out from my draws. I always really liked the lavender set, it was a guilty pleasure buy in the spur of the moment because the colour seem to make my summer tan seem golden and the knickers material were only lacy on the edges so I didn’t feel exposed if I wore short skirts.

I put my hands on my hips, tapping to the beat of the song as I bit my lip … hmmm now what should I wear?

Just something casual Isobel….  This isn’t a date…. I don’t think.

No, you’re just hanging out.

Hanging out with your best friend.  My mind snapped back to the image of Ari standing on my bed shirtless, with an intense look in his eyes as he looped the pillowcase around me and pulled me closer into him…

Urghhh! Stop putting labels on everything Isobel!

It’s Ari. Relax.

I shook my head and headed over to my draws, rummaging around until I found my cut off denim jeans and a thin, grey quarter length sleeved top with a buttoned V-neck, pulling them on.

Now I didn’t have to worry about sunburn on my shoulders.

For jewellery I added a chunky silver bangle my parents got me for my birthday two years ago.
