CAREFULLY, DARYL helped rosaline climb down, his hand clasped around hers gently, pulling her after him as the dogs bounded down the steps. the morning was nice, the weather was hot and the sun was blaring. birds were chirping. things seemed okay.

michonne approached them with a playful smirk, "tell me you two didn't sleep up there..."

rosaline chuckled whilst daryl took one glance behind him, "you mean the penthouse suite? dog picked it."

"horizon." the woman clarified, resting a hand on her hip. her friend's face seemed to fall slightly.

michonne took a breath, "alden and luke should've been back by now."

"that's one of the new people?" rosa queried, arching a brow.

apparently, she had not met most of them, it made her curiosity arise. new people were always a pleasure if they were actually good people.

"mhm," she nodded, crossing her arms over, "it could be nothing. could be something. you know what you're gonna do with that girl?"

daryl's gaze swayed between the two women, "why is this even up to me?"

rosaline shrugged, blinking, "you know people."

"you're the best damn judge of character we know." michonne furthered, "without jesus or maggie, these people need you."

"rosa needs me. they got tara." he shot back quickly. the marksman did not want to get himself into a leadership situation again. a long time ago working alongside the people from the sanctuary put him at unrest.

"tara's smart, but she shouldn't do it alone." she replied shortly, causing a momentary silence between them, "what we did, bringin' jesus back, it's gonna help them move on. but after that, it's about doing whatever it takes not to bury more."

the marksman grit his teeth, "alright."

"you sure about this, dare?" his wife prompted, resting a hand on his shoulder.

before he replied, she felt bile rise back up in her throat. she wanted to throw up so much right there and then, but she swallowed everything down almost grimacing. however, she put all her effort into making sure her expression didn't waver.

the woman made a mental note to take a trip to siddiq or enid when possible, but this was just simply not the time. besides, she believed that the feeling of being ill could be stopped if she started taking her medicine again.
