You were average. An average person, with an average job, and an average life. And you were happy. A simple life was all you had ever had, and it was all you had ever needed.
You didn't plan for him to walk into your bakery that day, with the confidence of a king and the smile of a trickster. You didn't plan for his words to transport your mind to a daydream where only you and him mattered, where you could swim in the sea of his eyes, where you could float on clouds that were comprised of his compliments. You didn't plan to fall in love with Anakin Skywalker, but it happened anyway.
That was what you explained to Obi-Wan Kenobi as he sat before you, a conflicted look on his face as his eyebrows furrowed and his hand clenched into a fist where it rested on the table.
"I'm not some kind of witch, or something," You told him, your hands clammy. Wiping them on your apron, your voice shook as you spoke. "I promise, I didn't influence him. I- I didn't even really know what a Jedi was until our third date."
Obi-Wan remained silent as he sat opposite you in the cold room. You had been brought to this building by representatives of the Jedi Council, and were terrified that you had done something wrong. They locked you in an interrogation room, where you sat alone for almost an hour before Obi-Wan arrived. He asked you to tell him exactly what had happened between you and Anakin, and he didn't seem happy about it.
"You didn't know that he was a Jedi Knight?" He asked you with a raised eyebrow, to which you shook your head.
"Not until he told me," You said, before frowning. "Can you tell me why I'm here? Have I done something wrong?"
Obi-Wan rubbed his forehead, seemingly contemplating something for a few moments before looking back at you. "I've been aware of your relationship with Anakin for a few months now."
His words unnerved you. "Okay. So, what?"
He seemed to be finding difficulty in articulating what he wanted to say. "I turned a blind eye, at first. Though he was going against the rules by being with you, I hadn't the heart to interfere. But I am now at a point where I have no choice but to interfere, Y/N."
"Intefere?" You repeated. "What do you mean?"
"You and Anakin cannot remain in a relationship," Obi-Wan revealed, making your stomach drop.
"What?" You asked with a scoff, hoping he'd soon show a sign that he was joking.
"I'm sorry, I truly am," He said, a pained look on his face. "But this is far bigger than you. It's bigger than all of us."
"What do you mean by 'it'?" You asked with disdain dripping from your tongue, wanting nothing more than to leave that cursed room. "I want to see Anakin. Is he here?"
"No, he isn't," Obi-Wan told you. "He's away on a mission, which is the only way I could bring you here without him finding out. Please, cooperate with me."
"You're telling me to leave Anakin," You said with a frown. "How do you expect me to cooperate?"
"I understand that this is hard to hear," He began, his tone annoying you to no end. "And it may be difficult for you to come to terms with. The fact of the matter is that your relationship with Anakin is not good for him."
His words insulted you, hurting your ego. You were nothing if not a doting partner, always making sure he was as happy as possible. Nothing brought you more joy than seeing Anakin smile and hearing his melodic laugh, yet here this man was telling you that you weren't good for him. "Who are you to comment on our relationship?"
Obi-Wan sighed, "I am asking you to leave Anakin not because I doubt the sincerity of your love, but because you are unwillingly making it easier for him to-" He stopped midway, the stress evident on his features. "You are a distraction. These upcoming months will be some of the most important for the entire galaxy, and the safety of it depends on Anakin's loyalty to the Order."
