We locked eyes in that split second. Mine sweet and tender, his panicked and pleading.

"You don't have to do this" he gasped, trying to reach out for me I danced back, laughing lightly.

"Oh yes I do, my love" and with that I thrust my sword into him, never once breaking eye contact until the life seeped out of his beautiful eyes.

Until the hate, anger, the hurt was wiped off his face completely.

That was when I allowed myself to drop the facade and brushed a finger over his cheeks, watching my tear track a path down his chin until it dripped off his cold body.

The last trace of my love for him dying.

Him hating me was always better than him dying loving me.

I laid his body gently onto the stained marble floor.

Stepping onto the balcony with my bloodied sword, I let the echoes reverberate all around me.

"Long live the queen."
