LAGOS

Darla walked with Mateo along the roads of Lagos, she walked arm in arm with the boy as she constantly looked around.

"Alright, what do you see?" Steve questioned over the comms.

"Standard beat cops." Wanda responded slowly looking around, just like she was taught. "Small station. Quiet street. It's a good target."

"There's an ATM on the south corner, which means?" Steve questioned, he was inside a building, his eyes flickered to Darla. He couldn't help but clench his jaw as he watched her look up to Mateo lovingly.

"Cameras." Mateo added on.

"Both cross streets are one-way." Darla announced waiting for one of them to respond.

"So, compromised escape routes." Wanda said almost questioningly.

"Means our guy doesn't care about being seen." Steve added. "He isn't afraid to make a mess on the way out. You see that Ranger Rover half way up the block?"

"Yeah, the red one? It's cute." Wanda shrugged, Darla had to remind herself not to chuckle at the girl.

"It's also bulletproof, which means private security, which means more guns, which means more headaches for somebody. Probably us." Natasha said as she came in over the comms.

"You guys know I can move things with my mind right?" Wanda questioned cockily.

"Alright, Red, no need to boast." Darla chuckled.

"Looking over your shoulder needs to become second nature." Natasha looked towards Wanda.

"She knows, she did have the best teacher." Darla bragged as she pulled away from Mateo and went to sit beside Wanda. She greeted the girl with a wave and a smile so that nobody would think it was suspicious.

"Anybody ever tell you you're a little paranoid?" Sam questioned as he walked along the roof, keeping an eye on everybody.

"Not to my face. Why did you hear something?" Natasha questioned in fake shock.

"Eyes on target folks." Steve reminded the group as they lost sight of the mission for a brief minute. "This is the best lead we've had on Rumlow in 6 months, I don't wanna loose him."

"If he see's us coming, that won't be a problem. He kind of hates us." Sam chuckled.

"Sam, see that garbage truck? Tag it." Steve ordered.

"That trucks loaded for max weight. And the drivers armed." Sam informed the group.

"It's a battering ram." Natasha cut in.

"Let's go." Darla said as she grabbed Wanda's hand and pulled her up.

"Go now." Steve said as his eyes focused solely on the blonde.

"What?" Wanda questioned confused.

"He's not hitting the police." Steve informed them. "Darla? Get there as fast as you can."

"On it, Cap." Darla mockingly saluted before pulling away from Wanda and running towards the institute.

Darla pulled out her guns and shot the two guards who were aiming at Steve. Once Steve kicked the guy from off the top of the car he span around with a contagious smile and looked at Darla.

"Thanks, baby." He smiled, his eyes scanning over her body quickly, she didn't seem to be hurt. "Body armour, AR-15's. I make six hostiles."

"Make that seven." Darla said as she blasted one of the guards that shook behind a car back and into a wall.

"I make five." Sam announced as he swooped in. "Four." The group all walked over to eachother, Darla's eyes landed on the young girl with a smile. "Rumlow's on the third floor."

"Red, just like we practiced." Darla pointed towards the girl with a grin.

"What about the gas?" Wanda questioned as she watched Steve wrap his arm around Darla's waist.

"Get it out." Steve shrugged whilst Wanda lifted them up. Steve placed his shield in front of them to smash the glass.

The two were instantly under fire. Darla ripped off the man's mask whilst Steve kicked him backwards.

"All in a days work." She whispered as Steve grabbed her and pinned her against the wall to avoid heavy fire. He couldn't help but let his eyes flicker down to her lips before he threw his shield, which bounced around the room before taking out the guard.

Darla placed her hand on the building, draining it of some of its energy.

'Someone's coming.'

Darla used all the strength she could muster to take the guards out. She looked at the gas that was exiting through the windows, knowing that Wanda was doing her job.

"Let's go." Darla said as she tapped Steve's chest and grabbed his hand, pulling him through the hallways. "That's not good." She whispered once she saw the empty case.

"Rumlow has a biological weapon." Steve informed the rest of the group.

"I'm on it." Natasha responded.

"Actually, we're on it." Mateo added cockily.

Darla chuckled and shook her head whilst she and Steve made their way out. The blonde girl jumped once she heard the explosion.

She ran outside and looked down at Rumlow, who aimed his gun up at them and blasted a bomb towards them. Steve quickly covered the girl but was still thrown back into the wall.

"Move. Move. Move." Darla shouted desperately as she scrambled to her feet, the voices telling her that another bomb was coming.

Two more bombs were fired at them. The pair were thrown out of the building. Falling onto the edges of two smaller buildings before hitting the ground with a thud.

Darla let out a groan as she clutched her arm in pain. She screwed had eyes shut and turned to face Steve.

"You okay?" She managed to whisper out.

"Are you?" He questioned more concerned for the girl.

"I will be." She chuckled, straightening out her arm until she heard a pop. "Bitch." She hissed.

Steve helped the girl stand up, his hand cupping her cheek with a soft smile. It had been a while since they had been this close.

"Sam. He's in a AFV heading north." Steve informed sam.

"Steve?" Darla whispered stepping closer to him. Steve hummed in response. His eyes flickered down to the girl, she seemed so confused.

"Doesn't matter." She shook her head. She couldn't tell him about the kiss with her and Mateo, not now anyway.

No matter how much he deserved to know.
