Ch. 53 "Advice of Steve"

                                                       Hayden POV 

That night sleep seemed to never come, the tossing and turning all night got on my nerves, so I decided I would just wander around the tower, like a lost tourist, like a zombi 

I was wearing my leggings and oversized sweater, and my grey converse, I sat on the counter waiting for the coffee to fill my cup, 

I sighed when did my life get so complicated, probably when Clint and the avengers found out about me, I thought 

Then everything just seemed to have a domino affect after that, I thought 

I jump off the counter grabbing the cup, I walked over to the balcony, I sipped on the coffee, as I watched the sun rise, 

"Can't sleep?" I hear 

I look to my left to see Steve, 

I just shook my head, just as I was about to take a sip he grabbed the cup, 

I glared at him, 

"You and I both know if Clint finds out were both in trouble," He said 

I leaned against the railing as the light breeze blew some of the strands of hair that wasn't in a side braid, 

"What's wrong?' Steve asked 

"I don't know, I just..." I stopped 

"Never mind it's stupid," I said 

"Come on Hayden you don't have to do that with me," He said 

"I know, I just do you ever feel... like where you are in life is a dream, and that your going to wake up because you know you don't deserve any of this," I said still looking out at the sun rise, 

"Hayden don't talk like that, you deserve to be treated kindly like an equal," Steve said 

"Do I? my own parents knew I wasn't worth the time, why do any of you try? why even bother with me?" I said 

Steve hooked his fingers under my chin making me look at him, 

"Because I see a kid who is very intelligent, and has skill I've never seen a girl your age have, you are worth more than you make yourself out to be," Steve said 

"You mean more to this team than you realize, when you got shot none of us slept for days, because we were so worried about you," Steve said 

"Even though it was your idea The twins and Peter blamed themselves, Clint wouldn't leave your side, and even though Tony wouldn't admit it he was so worried we caught him reading the newspaper upside down," Steve said 

"So don't talk down at yourself like that," He said 

"But-" I said looking up at him since he's much taller than me, 

"And who cares about your parents, they are very bad people, they are involved in many illegal activities and that alone should show you that they are not capable of being parents and you shouldn't even give them a second thought, or even let them cross your mind," Steve said 

He looked down at me softly, 

"Do you understand," He said his voice soft, 

"Yes," I said 

"Good," He said smiling down at me, 

We soon heard a long yawn, and we see Bucky, 

"Morning Buck," Steve said 

"Morning punk, ready for our run," Bucky said 

"Yeah," Steve said 

They were making their way to the exit, 

Bucky looked over his shoulder, 

"You coming shorty?" He said 

"You want me to run with you two, even though my stamina isn't like yours?" I asked tilting my head, 

"We've got to start somewhere, need to up your stamina anyway shorty," He said 

"Alright," I said running out the door with them
