What were they? I will never know. They poison the heart and the mind. I should never have them. I should never feel them or else I will experience pain. I was forbidden to feel anything for emotions will lead me to my self-destruction. I was taught to never put interest on anything except if it benefitted my race.
I was the purest among my kind and it must stay that way.
I ran my gloved fingers against the wooden walls as I walked towards the dining area. The walls were made of strong vines and the floors were made of black wood. It was dull and dark. It blocked any emotion that I may feel.
"Always wear your gloves...keep yourself covered. You must remain unfeeling to everything."
I saw my father and mother sitting in the dining area. I bowed before them and sat opposite to my father. I was ordered to never sit close to them and I should always keep my distance. No one was to stay one foot close to me except if my life depended on it.
"How is your day Lucian?" Father asked.
"Good," I replied.
"Do you feel ill?" Mother asked next. They all had blank expressions.
"No. I feel nothing."
The servants arrived in their black uniforms and placed a bowl filled with bread in front of me and a glass of water. They made sure not to touch me and I made sure that they don't.
"You are forbidden to touch or be touched by anyone. You can never use your power. Value silence, it will save you from feeling anything."
I took a bite of the tasteless bread in silence and sipped on the glass cup filled with water. I finished my meal and stood up. I bowed before them once more and left. I made my way towards my room in pure silence.
I made sure to not make a sound while trudging because even the slightest sound can be a sort of entertainment. I looked straight ahead and then turned to my left. My room was located at the left wing of the castrum (castle) where only I live. No one was to enter if they have no important affair inside. I only had visitors if servants need to clean or if someone will store new clothes in my closet.
I walked to my white semi-soft lectus (bed) and sat there. My eyes then focused to my lap and then to my window. The view was blocked by a wide luminous green tree trunk that just grew outside. It was the only thing that my eyes focused on for the rest of the year. Last year, I just stared at the brown wall in front of me.
This was the only thing I did for the 18 blue moons that had passed (18 blue moons were equivalent to 18 years.)
I lied down on my bed and closed my eyes. I wasn't tired. I already got used to circling around the castle to waste time and after that, I will head to my bed and shut my eyes, hoping to catch some sleep.
This night, I just had my eyes closed. I heard my door open and the bed sank from the weight of the person who just entered. I felt a hand place itself on my forehead and a shaky breath was released.
"Oh Lucian...my musuko (son)," she whispered. "Te iubesc (I love you.)"
I opened my eyes and turned my head to her which in turn made her look at me in shock. She wiped the tears streaming down her face and backed away.
"You are tainting my purity mother. What are you doing here?"
She opened and closed her mouth in obvious nervousness. Her blonde hair cascaded down to her waist and framed her small face.
