C H A P T E R 5 - I fight because that is all I know
~I will await you~
The beast on top of her seemed to grow limp, it's dead weight causing her shortness of breath, she felt wounds that had not caused her issues in years reopen and bleed.
It felt like eternity she was trapped under the beast, struggling for freedom. She had managed to find a large root sitting up above the dirt, with one shackled arm she pulled and pulled her body out from under, catching sight of the arachnid features of the beast. It was a giant spider. Disgusting.
With her body finally free, she took a moment to catch her breath, sighing knowing that she could not just lie there for a few moments. She had to get up. Her hands reached for the sheet of metal, her mask, pulling it over her face, letting all emotion drain from her before she was to kill and murder. Her legs were sore, side screaming in pain as she reached her arm up grabbing the bow from her back and two arrows, leaving one in her hand and placing the other in the notch of the bow.
Her footsteps, although painful, were taken with great care, making no noise to attract more unwanted beasts.
A bunch of circular webs twitched in front of her and her guard went up, pointing the arrow at the wiggling web. Before she saw Dwalin's massive forehead. What a relief.
"Dwalin! Company!" The blonde elf called out, the dwarves eyes finding her, immediately rushing towards her.
Thorin's eyes looked panicked. "Simbelmynë! Drop! Behind you!" He shouted, launching his sword and hitting a giant spider right between the eyes, it dropped dead behind her.
Her bright blue orbs fell to the dwarf rushing towards her, their eyes caught one another. She nodded her thanks to him, head falling forward before snapping back with the rest of her body, she flipped back, aiming her bow at one beast, landing on it before hitting two more. With her feet on the ground, she threw one, two, three daggers, watching three more drop dead. She collected the daggers one by one, following the company through the forrest only to see more spiders drop from above. She had her bow at the ready, but so did someone else.
An archer dropped from above, sliding down a hill on the back of a spider, heels digging it into the ground as he aimed and shot at another. Her blue eyes followed the blonde archer as he dropped before them pointing an arrow right between Thorin's eyes.
The blonde elleth looked at the rest in her company before slowly bending down until she was on her knees, the same height as the rest. Ori looked at her with disapproval, as if she could stay hidden like this. She pulled the hood over her head and faced down.
As the archer landed he spoke, "do not think I won't kill you, dwarf, it would be my pleasure." He sounded vicious, speaking 'dwarf' as if it were a disgusting taste in his mouth.
A dozen elves revealed themselves from the tree line, Mynë saw from the sides of the mask. All with bows at the ready, pointing at the company.
In her head she counted the dwarves around her, coming short by one as well as Bilbo, her head turned left to right, finding Fili, "where's Kili?"
"Help!" A scream rang from the other side of them, Fili snapped his head at the sound, the rest following suit.
Fili's eyes went wide, "Kili!"
Simbelmynë could have rolled her eyes when not a few minutes later did Kili come stumbling out of the woods, a female elf pushing him to walk faster. Clearly he didn't need that much help.
"Search them!" The head archer ordered making the elves follow suit. Separating the company one by one and removing weapons from their arms and holsters.
She never knew someone could conceal as many weapons and watched on surprised as Fili one by one had what felt like thousands of daggers removed from everywhere.
Simbelmynë thought elves would be smarter and yet none of them had noticed the strangely dressed creature still hiding behind Thorin.
"Do you have a plan?" He whispered back at her, watching as the sword given to him by the elves was handed to the head archer.
"I'm sure one will come to me, Oakenshield, you must have faith." Simbelmynë promised, thinking hard on her feet, her eyes fell away to the distance in the trees. There was a tunnel.
"Where did you get this?" The elf snarled at Thorin, the blade pointing at his throat.
Thorin didn't stutter, "it was given to me."
"So not just a thief but a liar as well." The elf insulted him, his tone dripping with utter disgust. The elf looked away, glaring down at the rest of the dwarves, eyes narrowing on the one wearing a hood. From the corner of her eye through the metallic mask she could feel the archers pointed stare. Simbelmynë was running out of time.
"Thorin," She commanded his attention, his head flinched slightly but not tearing his eyes from the blonde archer. Simbelmynë continued, "there are tunnels not far from here. It will take me to the castle. I will make my way to you all and free you,"
"How do you know about the tunnels?" He murmured back, watching the archer circle the group slowly.
"Intuition."
"You're lying,"
"It's too difficult to explain, just trust I will find you," The blonde promised. Thorin's head finally turned, his eyes meeting hers. He searched her orbs, trying to find any hint of deceit, but all he could see was complete honesty. The elleth would not leave them.
"Stay safe, Mynë," The king advised, turning back to look at the archer who had now found his way close to the concealed Elleth. "I will await you." He promised.
"You! Why do you wear a mask? Concealing your hideous face, are you?!" The blonde archer yelled, nearing closer to her.
She kept her mouth shut, no sound escaping her lips, but her hands held tightly to two daggers.
"How dare you!-" He was cut off immediately, quite literally. Her body stood up, blades crossed over each other just touching his throat. This was no dwarf...
"How dare I," She agreed, continuing, "it would be wise of you to let my friends and I be on our way."
The elf smirked, "who said I was wise?" He questioned sarcastically, his own blades holding hitting hers and pushing her back from him.
The two's blades hit one another back and forth as they fought, taking their fight further and further from the crowd until they were right where she wanted them. One strike after the next, he soon lost a dagger to her strikes, it being lost in the green of the forrest.
Pushing the woman back, her mask stayed tightly to her face as did her hood to her head. Only her voice had given her away...
The ellon stood back, watching as she backed up to the base of the tree. His blade fell through his fingers, hitting the tree beside her head. Even with the mask concealing her, it was obvious she was impressed. Simbelmynë threw both of hers, watching him duck to avoid the blades.
His arms soon held his bow, her taking out the two swords from her sides, flipping them with her fingers.
The elf charged, firing arrow after arrow. Her body flipped, landing on a higher branch and continuing to scale up the tree as he followed.
One arrow after another, broken by the stroke of her blade.
"If only you had were wiser..." Simbelmynë chastised.
His eyes narrowed, "I should say the same..."
She smirked as he drew the next arrow, rolling her plan in her sleeve until it reached her hand. The smile only widening as he let the arrow fly free. She moved, letting it hit the object in her hand, white smoke escaping, covering her entire form from everyone who could see.
"She's escaping! Find her!"
Her body dropped from the tree, hitting her target, she fell through the forest ground.
