Majoring in Philosophy had been a last second decision of mine. I'd always wanted to do something prestigious, something that would make sure I'd always have a bank account filled with money. Doctor, lawyer, business woman... I guess I wanted to prove myself, that I didn't need anyone's help to take care of me. I also didn't want to be caught without money and having to scramble through the fridge without anything to eat. I was done with that.

That changed when I, under the influence of someone else, decided to go for something I was actually interested in. I still don't know what I want to be, but for now I'm studying philosophy. I used to love it, I do love it, or at least I should; I haven't felt much of a passion for anything lately.

I slide into a seat in the front row of the auditorium, trembling with nerves. The girl next to me briefly glances over and gives me a small smile. I return it, momentarily baffled by her beauty.

I am a straight woman, but no one can deny that this girl is gorgeous. Her ivory skin is flawlessly smooth, rich dark chocolate brown eyes gleaming in the harsh lighting of the room.

The professor enters the hall so I quickly scoop my laptop out of my bag and impatiently wait for the class to start.

"Good morning everyone," the professor greets us, writing his name on the whiteboard in capital letters.

PROFESSOR KWANG

"Now let's begin."

🧹

Professor Kwang is certainly not a slacker. Despite it being our very first day, he has no hesitation to shove us headfirst down into work. Three hours later, and I am scrambling for the remnants of my sanity. I have been so busy taking notes that I don't feel like myself anymore when I wake up from an intense hypnotize-like focus.

"Don't forget to partner up in twos or threes. These will be your study mates for the rest of year. Some of you might be reluctant, but trust me, you will thank me later."

I gulp. Did I really have to?

You coward. What happened to the wild and reckless Kim Y/n, the social butterfly?

I gather my courage and turn to the girl next to me again, who has been fervently taking notes during the lecture as well. She seems studious enough to partner up with. And she hasn't left yet, still packing things into her backpack.

"Hey," I say to catch her attention. "I'm Y/n. Wanna be study mates?" I try to send her my warmest smile, relaxing my shoulders.

"Oh," she exclaims, surprised. "I was about to ask you. Of course! I'm Jisoo."
