As he climbed the tower, there was one though on his mind.
Protect Rapunzel.
That was all he wanted to do, he knew she wouldn't be safe with that mother of hers. Climbing through the window he saw her, but not the way he wanted to. She was chained and gagged. Next thing he knew, a searing pain was in his side. Falling down, he saw Gothel with the dagger, standing over him, blood dripping form the tip of the blade. The pain was almost too much, until he heard Rapunzel making a promise to Gothel to go with her as long as he was healed.
He couldn't let her do that, he had to protect her, and she would die if she went with her. Gothel walked over and chained him to the stairs. He quickly looked around for anything he could use to protect her. He finally found something. As Rapunzel leaned down to hear what he was saying, he had a moment of renewed strength. With it, he sat up and sliced the mirror shard through her hair.
With that final act, he breathed his last breath with one thought on his mind.
