Ray emitted a long sigh as she leaned her head against her warm fist. Her other hand drummed on the desk, bored out of her mind.

She was desperate for this shitty day to end so she could go home and relax.

Her eyes mindlessly wandered off, skipping all of her classmates in the room and set on the small strip of glass on the door. And just then, she watched as a tall, slim figure scurried right past the classroom.

It didn't take long for the realization to kick in, and Ray's head shot up as her eyes widened. That was her chance.

Without much of a thought, the girl raised her hand in determination.

"Yes?" The history teacher grumbled, clearly annoyed at the fact that she had interrupted his monologue.

"Sir, may I go to the bathroom?" Ray asked in a hopeful voice.

"Do you really need to?"
"Yes."

"Fine, I guess." The old man let pass an exasperated sigh. "Don't be too long or you'll miss out on the material."

"Thank you." Ray nodded light-heartedly before leaping up and hurrying out of the classroom.

Her head whipped around the hallway, barely catching a glimpse of the figure turning the corner to her right. Ray knew that she couldn't just yell after him, therefore she began her light jog in his direction, hoping not to get caught by any of the hall monitors.

Finally, she stepped in front of him, forcing him to come to a halt.

Tommy looked up from the blindly white shoe, eyes meeting with the emerald hint ones. There was a hint of surprise in his expression as soon as he realized who he was facing, but he remained silent, waiting for her to begin speaking.

But as soon as she stepped in front of him, Ray's mind went completely blank. The long, kind apologetic monologue that she had practiced in her head so many times was absolutely gone.

She had nothing to say.

Tommy's expression fell into a strange frown as he scanned her carefully. "What?" He asked in a low, monotone and rather annoyed voice.

Ray unfroze, gulping hard as she straightened up and tucked her hands behind her back awkwardly. She was so focused that her facial expression became rather rude and uncaring, the famous bitch face that many knew her for.

The girl took a deep breath. "Uhm... I..." She choked out, lips feeling as if they were superglued shut.

Tommy raised a confused eyebrow, staring deep into her soul.

"I'm sorry." Ray finally managed to say, though it didn't come out as she wanted it to. "I was having a bad day and I exploded on you when you bumped into me. Sorry." Her apology sounded cold and ruthless, as if she was forced into it.

Tommy clearly cringed. "You bumped into me. I wasn't the one not paying attention to where I was going."

Ray's brows furrowed, mouth twitching to the side. "If you saw that I wasn't paying attention to where I was going, you could've easily moved out of the way. Is it that difficult?"

"Why do I have to move out of your way? You just admitted that it was all your fault." Tommy scoffed. "Do you think you're better than everyone else or something?"

Ray looked around, face of disbelief. "Of course not. I'm just talking about human decency. But now I realize that you don't have any of that."

"And you do? You literally came over to apologize, but you don't seem sorry at all. If anything, all you did was say that it was my fault and acted like a total ass."

"I did apologize, mind you. You're the one that started arguing."
"Didn't know I wasn't allowed to call out other people's bullshit?"
"What is your problem?!"
"What is yours? You literally bumped into me, swore me out and then pretended it was all my fault?"

"Are you fucking-" Ray stopped herself, eyes shutting tightly. Her fists were clenched tight, but she had to hold back.

'Calm yourself, Ray. You came here to apologize, not to argue. Didn't you want to improve your relationships so you're not as awkward in game anymore?'
She thought to herself whilst taking in a few deep breaths.

Finally, she opened her eyes and looked up at Tommy's annoyed face. She took control over her face, forcing it to relax into her casual, cold monotone expression.

"Listen, I don't have time for this. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cuss you out so rudely and I regret it. Could we just please get this over with and move on? I don't want to owe you anything anymore." She spoke sternly, a hint of hope in her voice.

Tommy remained rather silent, eyes attentively glaring into hers. Despite her words, he didn't seem very content judging from how he looked at her.

"Whatever." Was all he said after a long pause, then swiftly turned around and continued on his way.

Ray was a little shocked, having expected anything else but that one-word response. She turned to look at where he had gone, staring at his back as he continued down the hallway in a lazy step with his hands stuffed into his pockets.

Of course, this hadn't been the outcome the girl wanted. But she knew that she couldn't do anything about it. She had wronged him after all. So she just had to clench her teeth and suck it up.

And with that, she began making her way back to class.

But upon hearing footsteps, Tommy couldn't help but look back, watching as Ray turned the corner and disappeared. He couldn't help but find their argument way too familiar.

But how? How did he remember? Why did she remind him of someone?

And despite the many questions filling his mind, he soon let them all go upon realizing how angry his teacher would be if he didn't return to class right then and there.
