I R I S
This morning when I got to school, Adam greeted me at the gate. I was kinda pissed with him though. And also, it's like I'm not even giddy when I see him anymore. I don't feel butterflies and I don't sigh dreamily.
I guess I don't like him after all.
He asked me if I got in trouble, and I told him yes. He laughed.
In my face.
So I'm currently not talking to him, but it doesn't seem to be affecting him, so there goes a friendship I guess.
It's now lunch time and I wanted to hide out in the library or something because I still wasn't talking to the twins and I can't just sit down at Adam's table when I haven't been talking to him at all today. And plus, the Dumbo sisters are probably going to be a bother so I made up my mind. I walked to the cafeteria and purchased my lunch, I was about to walk out when a voice stopped me.
"Iris! Where are you going?"
Thanks a lot Lorenzo.
"I guess over here." I mumbled. I saw everyone at the table and got a gut twisting feeling in my stomach. I really don't want to have an awkward or confrontational lunch for a change. My usual seat beside Mateo was empty, but I didn't wanna sit there. But the only other free seat was beside Emilio. So I sucked it up and sat down. I sighed picking at my food. I took a quick glance around me, Leah was glaring at me. As usual. But she shocked me when she opened her mouth.
"So Iris. Punch anyone in the face lately?"
I-
I ignored her and continued eating my food.
"Hey! My sister's talking to you. Are you deaf, dumb or both?" Prya jumped in, earning a chorus of giggles from her fan club.
"Nah, I just inhaled a bit of your breath. Stunned me for a bit." I said, then turned to Leah. "And to answer your question, yes I have punched someone in the face lately. And if you looked in the mirror every morning you would know that."
Her mouth gaped.
I didn't like being pushed over. My mom's boyfriends use to do it cause they thought she was serious about them. And if I answered them they would beat me while she watched. And ever since I got a chance to start my life over, I vowed to myself. I would never let anyone treat me like that again. Even if it meant retorting to violence.
I'll cut a bitch.
Mateo poked me in my side. I ignored him though and continued to eat, but the poking and prodding got unbearable so I turned to him.
"What!" I shouted. He smirked.
"Hi baby sis."
Mateo Xander Reed Garcia is the bitch that I am going to cut.
I got up ignoring the snickers and giggles around me.
"I lost my appetite." I said walking away.
"Iris wait." Emilio shouted. But my step didn't falter, not at all. "Come on, Iris." He begged, but I continued walking away. I heard footsteps behind me so I started running.
"Iris please!" He shouted, but it fell upon deaf ears.
I ran really fast but he was right behind me. I saw the girl's bathroom and quickly ran in, escaping Emilio only because he didn't expect me to run in there.
"Iris, listen to me!" He shouted through the door. But I stood at the other end of the spacious bathroom refusing to make a sound.
"I'll come in there. I'm serious!"
