Even if You're With Him ✔

Chapter 19

"Kim Taehyung?" The doctor calls for the family, and while Seokjin struggles against Yoongi, Namjoon steps away with Dr. Song. "Has Mr. Taehyung ever been shot before?"

Namjoon raises an eyebrow and nods slowly. "He was in the army. He had mentioned that he was discharged after receiving a shot to the chest. They fixed the broken bones with metal."

"Its weird to say this, but the previous injury saved his life. The metal that was used to hold his rib cage together stopped the bullet from entering his lungs. He lost a lot of blood, but luckily he made it here just in time. He will have to rest for the next two months but other than that, he should be making a full recovery."

Namjoon tries to keep the excitement he feels to himself as he hears the Dr.'s good news and is only able to respond with a firm handshake. Unfortunately he is already aware of the harsh reality once word gets out that Taehyung survived. Although he doesn't have proof that his father was behind this big mess, he knows he had something to do with it. There is no doubt in his mind that he'll try killing Taehyung again, and he can't  risk trying to be lucky like they were today. So he makes a decision he is unable to think through due to the time constriction. "Hey, Dr. I know Taehyung survived..." Dr. Song looks at him puzzled as he nods his head, "how much money will it take to say he didn't?" Dr. Song is shocked at first but soon sighs and takes out a notepad and writes down a number and hands it to the younger man.

After agreeing to have the money transferred by the end of the day, Namjoon take a couple of seconds to prepare himself to break the supposedly bad news to his brother. His chest tightens once he sees his younger brother crumble before him, and the only thought that gives him any sort of comfort is that this was the only way to keep the people he cares about safe.

He clutches his hand against his chest as he feels physical pain seeing the love of his life breaking down in the back of a car while his friends load his casket in the back of the Hearse. "Please forgive me, my love," he weeps before driving off a different direction.

"Congratulations!" Namjoon beams as he enters the apartment with an ultrasound copy in his hand. "You're having a girl!"

Taehyung jumps up and snatches the picture from the other's hand. "I knew it! Jin looked too big for it to be a boy last time I saw him. She's going to be my spoiled little princess for sure. Don't worry baby girl, Daddy's going to have you in his arms soon, and when I do, I'm never letting go," Taehyung rambles with the biggest smile on his face. He kisses it and places the picture in a small box with all the other copies Namjoon had been able to get throughout the visits. 

"I know this adjustment has been hard for you," Namjoon says as he pats Taehyung's back, "But I swear I would not have done it like this if there was another way. And I promise I will bring you back to your family," Taehyung nods understanding his friend's words, but that doesn't take away the ache in his heart every time he sees his love trying to navigate life without him.

"Taehyung," he hears the sleeping beauty mumble. He knows he should have run out with Namjoon and Yoongi when they heard Seokjin's car pull up but he couldn't help himself. It had been weeks since he had last snuck into Seokjin's room ever since the Kim family hired more security. He knows he should leave now while he still has a chance, but instead he slowly lays down next to his lover.

Taehyung takes his time as he looks over the sleeping Seokjin next to him. "You have gotten so big, baby. Your cheeks look full again. That means you're finally eating right," he mumbles as he rubs the others very noticeable belly. "I got so worried when your brother told me your health was declining. I'm so sorry I have caused you so much pain," he whispers slowly. "But I swear on everything that I have ever held dear that I am going to spend the rest of my life making it up to you and her." Taehyung wipes the loose tears that have spilled from his eyes and leans closer to Seokjin to place a sweet, tender kiss on his forehead. "I miss you so much, baby." He attempts to lean in for another kiss, but is interrupted by footsteps getting closer causing him to shoot out of bed.
