He's Ego Won't Mind the Push

In a hospital room on the northwestern coast of the United States of America, two aggravated parents are on the phone with a doctor from New York

"We were told you are the best of the best in all of the eastern coast, please, I am begging you, please tell me you can have our baby girl, that you can look into her case"

"Mr. Garcia, as I already told the doctor that reached out to me earlier, I'm on my way to Atlanta to work on another case. I can recommend you to a member of my team here in Rochester, but that's as close as it'll come to me" Replies Anthony Ramney

"Is he as good as you?" Asked the father with a troubled voice

"His name is Andrew Melton, he works hand in hand with an amazing team, they're primary focus is children, so, even when I wouldn't say that he is as good as I am, he is a very close second, and a top one when it comes to working with children" Replied Ramney

"Look, my wife and I are desperate, just get us in contact with him, hopefully, he can do what others haven't and just take her case"

Said the father over the phone while looking at his wife and kid. Anthony, assures him he will send notice of the case to Melton and says goodbye to the parents as he gets ready to work on a patient before he has to leave.

Rochester, New York

Melton walks into the room where Ramney is, the head of the Diagnostics team looks at him

"Great you're here"

"Did you need me for something?" Asked Melton

"There is a case, Seattle, the parents are desperate, no doctor wants to take in the case, it's very complicated, especially revolving around a child. I know you have plans to go soon but I was hoping maybe you would take a look at the girl's case? With all you've seen on your travels, you may have encountered something similar" Replies Anthony

"I mean, I can take a look but my flight is scheduled to leave in less than 24 hours, I doubt there is anything I can do in such a short time"

"Damn it, and I can't take the case over, I have to be in Atlanta first thing in the morning this Friday"

The two of them stand in silence contemplating what the next step could be, they share a look and it all comes clear

"Kyle," They both say

"I'll call him in," says Melton

"Great, I'll tell the chief to see if he signs in on it" Replies Ramney

As Ramney walks out into the hallway and Melton brings out his phone to dial Kyle who is in his apartment

"Hello" He answers

"Kyle, are you busy?" Asks Melton

"I mean, I'm, not right now why?"

"Do you think you could come over to the hospital? There is a situation that we want to discuss with you" Replies Melton

"Alright, give me a few minutes while I change and I'll be there,m; by the way, are you sure this can't wait till tomorrow?"

"I have to leave tomorrow night, there is a storm coming as well, I'm afraid it's now or now"

"Alright then, I'll be there in around twenty minutes"

"Perfect"

Melton hangs up the phone and goes to find Ramney. On the fifth floor, Ramney sits in the office of the Chief of the hospital who is on the phone with the board of directors

"I have word from both Doctor Ramney and Doctor Melton, he can take this case on, he is more than capable, and to top that off qualified"

"We understand, but he's a nurse"

"A nurse practitioner with double certification and a doctorate in research, hell not even I have so many credentials after my name and I run this hospital," Said the chief

"Well, if you can vouch for him, we'll need in writing, just for evidence purposes, as well as a relay from the parents, given he isn't a doctor"

"Worry not Madam President, we will arrange all of that"

The President of the Hospital hangs up the phone and the Chief turns to look at both Ramney and Melton

"It's done, all we need now is for Sandoval to agree to it, and we can get that patient to us"

"On that note, I called the parents on my way up, it might have been an overstep on my behalf, but knowing Kyle, he would say no otherwise"

Ramney looks at Melton "What did you do Andrew"

"I told the parents to start arranging the transfer"

Ramney stares at Melton and takes a few deep breaths "And Kyle has no idea that the moment he walks through those doors, he will have already been agreed on somebody else's behalf to do something he might as well not want to"

The Chief interrupts them "It doesn't matter now, this is the opportunity of a lifetime, all we have to do is make sure Sandoval knows that, the rest will follow shortly. After all, his ego wouldn't mind the push, if anything, this is just another stepping stone for him"

The Chief follows the two of them down to the Peds floor where he gathers up the staff informing them about the scenario as they all wait for Kyle to arrive.

Meanwhile, Kyle gets in his car, and a message from Ramney read itself through the car

"I want to apologize in advance for what's about to happen, but know that even from Atlanta, you will have my complete and utter support with anything"

Kyle frowns as the message comes to an end, he tries to call Ramney but an incoming call from Tatiana keeps him from it, he ignores the call and goes to call again when she interrupts him again. He takes a deep breath and when she calls again he answers "Where the hell are you? I've been calling you."

"I just arrive at the hospital, I'll call you back soon, I have something to discuss here." He hangs up the phone so she texts him "Hey you idiot, first, I know you did not just hang up on me, second, remember when you said you'd owe me for telling Samantha that I told you about us, and then telling her about us, well, payday is here, and I need you, so hurry up and meet me at shake shack on 11th avenue. And don't tell anyone, OR ELSE"

He reads the message and he lets a disdainful sniff out as he gets out of the car and puts the phone in his back pocket.

"Decisions, decisions, that all that life is about. Last time I made a bad decision, and I know have learned from it, but why is it that those around you don't seem to learn from your mistakes, well the answer is simple, nobody learns through someone else's head"
