Justus-

I walked out of the house as my mom ranted about how I'm just like my father for what feels like the thousandth time today. Due to my parents having me while they were only the ages sixteen and seventeen they weren't exactly financially stable. Due to this my father ended up getting in the streets to provide for my mom and I, as my mom stayed at home and cared for me.

Unfortunately as time went on my dad became well known in the streets and he didn't want to leave them. My mom was okay with it at first but as she started to realize all the consequences that came with it she wanted him to stop. She didn't like my dad constantly looking over his shoulder. My dad, however, did not want to stop. So of course he didn't.

On my tenth birthday my dad didn't show up to my birthday party. I was upset that day because I hadn't seen my dad all day and he was like my best friend. The whole day my mom looked uneasy and scared. She put on a smile for me because she didn't want me to worry about my father even though she was. Later that night the news was broke that my father had been killed due to being shot three times. My mother blamed me.

She said "If you were never born your father could've still been here, it's all your fault" I believed it. It was my fault and she made it clear as I grew up. Now I'm eighteen in the streets because my mother lost her job. I did it for her I didn't mean to upset her. I saw her struggling and the bills needed to be paid. I know I could've just gotten a real job but we needed the money.

That's what got me here now. Walking around at 10:32 PM because my mom found out. She said she didn't want my dirty money and how I was going to end up like my father...dead. Not that I matter to her anyways but since she's my mother I'm gonna still look after her even if it kills me.

I looked up to see that I had ended up walking to the park that's around my school. Kids don't really be here because this is a dangerous park in the hood and nobody wants their kid to be on a T-shirt. As I'm walking to the bench on the other side of the park I see that there's already someone sitting there. I guess that someone felt my presence because they looked up. I then realized that someone was a boy.

The boy looked about my age, if not older. With a little help from the street light I could see that he was dark skinned and had a short hair cut, probably waves. We starred at each other for some time before he decided to speak. "who you is?" He said while mugging me. I looked at him as if he were crazy. "Nah, who are you?" I replied. He sat there looking at me for an uncomfortable period amount of time.

"Nigga I'm asking you a question" I said while reaching for my waist reaching to get my gun because I ain't like the way he was starring at me. He then smiled a bit as if he was taking me as a joke. " you ain't scaring nobody" he said looking like he was about to start cracking up and just then he did. "I'm Messiah" he said after calming down from taking me as a joke. I just nodded my head. "You gon' sit down or what?" He said as I still was standing there looking at him.

He looked like an okay guy- but then again looks can be deceiving. I took my hand from my waist. "I'm k9" I said while putting my hand in my pocket. He looked unamused. "Nah what's your real name" I don't know dude. Why would I give him my real name you can't trust people in these streets.

I simply mugged him and turned away starting to walk back to the hell hole I called home. His presence irked me for some reason and I don't even know dude. I don't have time for games. When I got home I noticed that my mom's car wasn't in the drive way and all the lights in the house were off. At least I can walk in the house with out an argument forming.

I went in my room going under my bed to get the Nike shoe box that I open an unhealthy amount of times a day. I took out the weed that I had stocked away and started to roll up. I loved getting high it was an escape from reality. I loved getting high a little too much. I sat there as I let my high kick in. I looked at my phone to see what time it was. In the middle of looking at the time I seen that Devonte had texted me. Him and I basically grew up together. His mom and pops looked after me like I was their own while my mother neglected me.

Devonte🤟🏽🥶- pops said that he might got a real job for you stop by the shop tomorrow.

J🖤- aight bet

I went into my snack drawer and got a fruit snack, a box a fruity pebbles and room temperature water before putting it on the side of my bed knowing I was gonna wake up in the middle of the night wanting something sweet like always. I then turned off my light deciding I was going to take a shower in the morning and drifted off into my much needed sleep.
