Su Jin had almost calmed down after arriving in her room.

She sat down, contemplating on what happened.

'I got too worked up.'

Su Jin sighed. "I'm already this old but still —" she could only sigh.

Su Jin stared at the moon hanging up in the sky.

"I loved Ryu An. . . I still do."

'But loving you. . . hurts.'

"My love for you knew no bounds."

"I thought I was in control."

"I thought I was not expecting too much. . of you. . .

"of your love. . ."

". . . your promises."

"I thought I was unassuming of the care you've shown me."

"I didn't let anyone bully me, step on me. . ."

"I lived through all of it in the end."

She smiled, sorrow evident in her eyes, "But. . . I lost not just my child."

'I lost my self.'

The pure heart and mind of a scholarly daughter.

Her honest mouth, hidden, as well as everyone else's in the palace.

Her curious eyes, to see the wonders of places, suppressed, for an empress shall only be in her palace.

Her heart. . .who broke in pieces every day.

'.....seeing you with other women.'

Su Jin knew what she was getting into when she became empress.

"An empress should be virtuous. . ." she scoffed.

Almost laughing out loud at the ridiculousness of the word.

Su Jin turned quiet and stared off of the moon again.

"I've had enough virtuousness of one lifetime."

'I've had enough of an 'eventful' life. . .'

"A simple one. . . .all I ask is for a simple life this time."

She looked pleadingly at the moon — for anyone up there to hear her.

"Please."

...

Su Jin has readied herself for Ryu An.

Last time, it seemed like she won but Ryu An was never one to give up easily.

'It's been a week.'

A week of suspense, that is.

After more weeks passed, Su Jin relaxed herself.

She could not fathom of why Ryu An would just give up like that but it seems he really did. . . . . .give up.

Su Jin felt a pang in her heart.

She was disappointed, to be honest.

But it is understandable. No wise ruler would keep pursuing an unwilling empress.

Su Jin continued tending to her flowers.

"It will pass."

The hurt she's feeling now. . . .  . . . it will pass.

Just like in the past.
