The worst part of having Cole as the only available friend who was allowed to come and see you, was that you were quickly reminded why he was never your first choice to hang out with.

It wasn't the fact that he was annoying or rude or anything like that. You love Cole for just the way he is!

But he never wants to commit crimes with you like (F/n) would, so you were left doing pretty boring things.

Aside from that, you quickly got back into the swing of things and enjoyed your time back in your home. It was a lot quieter, granted that your siblings and father all had jobs and/or their own homes to return to.

Cole couldn't really stay over that often either since school was now online through Zoom. You made fun of him so much for it.

You watched a few different anime that were released since you were away. You even watched some older ones too.

For example: The Promised Neverland, Violet Evergarden, A Silent Voice, Death Parade, and Jujutsu Kaisen.

A few of those helped you really cry it out. After watching Jujutsu Kaisen, you were filled with the urge to hold a type of funeral for Gerik and Akira.

Proper deaths.

No one really gets a proper death in Demon Slayer. But... at least you can provide some sort of relief. It's more for a selfish reason actually, but that didn't mean you couldn't give them a bitchin funeral.

And that's exactly what you did.

And at that funeral, you met someone important.

Your dad's boyfriend: Max Lee.

He was a beautiful, 41 year old African American standing at a whooping 6'4 (193cms). His black dreadlocks that reached a little past his collarbone were almost always in a bun. His bright blue, almost aqua colored eyes were so sharp and amazing.

Your first words to him?

"Mmmm. Himbo."

Yeah.

You wanted to cry from embarrassment, too.

You apologized profusely for a good 15 minutes before Max had to comfort you because you started crying.

Max was really cool, and he was actually-indeed in fact-a himbo.

You were tempted to have The Talk™ with Max; you wanted to make sure your dad wasn't accidentally dating a serial murderer. And for your own selfish reasons, you didn't think you could handle the role and responsibility of taking care of your dad again if Max was no good.

But then you heard an exchange between the two men in the kitchen while you were eavesdropping:

"You're still Mexican, right?" Max asked.

"Uh, last time I checked, yeah." Your father responded.

Then Max asks your dad in a very serious tone: "What's the Spanish word for taco? I want to try and bond with (Y/n) in Spanish."

"..."

"..."

You heard a deep sigh coming from your dad, but you could tell it was a sigh of utter fondness.

You know your dad will be just fine.

Anyway, during the time you've been back in Phoenix, Arizona, these were the main events that transpired:
