We continued walking until it was dusk, then we set up camp, sitting on the ground with a lantern next to us. The child remained in his cradle, while R8 stood next to the child. Mando was trying to fix his wound with what looked like a cauterizer. I had a first aid kit inside R8, and it would heal his wound better than that cauterizer.

"I can help fix that wound." I offered.

"No, I'm fine." He retorted.

"Using that won't help your wound." I shot back.

"It's helped me in the past." He rebuked.

"That may be so, but your skin will scar." I argued.

"Don't care. As long as it keeps me from dying." He protested.

"Fine. If you're gonna be stubborn then go ahead and burn your skin." I mentioned.

"I will." He answered.

I remained silent as he kept using cauterizer on his wrist. I rolled my eyes before glancing over at R8. "R8, any messages for me?"

He let out a negative beep, informing me that no one had contacted me. My shoulders slumped. I thought Daisy and her team would be finished with the mission, but I guess I was wrong. As Mando continued to fix his wound, I noticed the child was not in his cradle anymore. I saw him walking towards Mando, raising his little hand. Before I could intervene, he noticed the child. He climbed up to his feet before picking up the child, putting him back inside his cradle. As soon as he was done fixing his wound, Mando moved on to repair his heart plate.

I remained silent, glancing over at the child, who took an interest in R8. The next time I looked back at the cradle, he was gone. My stomach dropped. Where did he go? Fortunately, I found him standing next to Mando. He raised his hand again towards him. My eyes widened. "Oh no."

I quickly yet gently grabbed the child from the ground, away from Mando. I looked down at the child, who let out a whimper.

"Hey, it's all right." I assured him. "You're safe now. I won't anything hurt you, okay?"

In response, the child looked up at me, letting out a coo. I then placed him down in the cradle. Once he was in his cradle, his gaze fell on the bandage around my right hand. I noticed him staring at the wound.

"I'm fine, little one." I mentioned. "I just need some rest. You should sleep too."

I then sat down on the ground, feeling exhausted. My eyes closed every now and then, but I kept them open, keeping an eye on the child to make sure nothing would happen to him. That's when Mando's voice reached me. "I can keep an eye on the kid. Why don't you get some sleep?"

I wanted to protest, not sure whether to trust him or not, but sleep was persistent. So I gave him a nod. I then laid down on the ground, hoping to get some sleep as I slowly shut my eyes.

"Good job, Hendricks. You passed." Coulson informed him.

Hendricks was a new agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. He had short black shaggy hair along with a brown suit. Fury had asked Coulson to supervise the new agent, in his first mission, and he assigned me to help out. So Coulson and I decided to stage the entire thing, making it seem as though it was an actual mission, when it was just a test. The agents who were in on the staged mission approached us. Hendricks looked at us, completely taken back. "Wait, this was all a test?"

"An initiation of some sorts." I confirmed.

Hendricks raised an eyebrow. "Does every agent go through this?"
