I was sitting in my bed as I watched the news broadcast on what had happened in Lagos. I quickly sat up and headed into Wanda's room to check on her. I quickly grabbed the TV remote from her desk and turned off the TV as she watched them talk about what had happened. I stood in her doorway as she held her head in her hands.
"It's my fault," she states
"Don't say that Wanda, that's not true," I reply
"Turn the TV back on, They're being very specific," she says while looking at me
"Steve and I should have noticed the bomb on his vest, Wanda. We should have seen it long before you had to handle it," I say as I walk up to her and sit next to her on the bed
"It's on both of us then," she says while looking at the floor
"This job, we try to save as many people as we can. Sometimes that doesn't mean everybody. But if we can't find a way to live with that, then next time... maybe nobody gets saved," I say while trying to comfort her.
Suddenly Wanda looks over to the wall beside me and looks confused.
"Uhh," Wanda states in confusion
I look over to see Vision standing there. He must have phased through the wall again.
"Vis, we talked about this," I state with a smile
"Yes, but the door was open so I assumed that..." he states while motioning to the door being wide open
"Is everything okay?" I ask him
"I was told to inform you both that Mr. Stark is here," he says to me
"We will be right down," I smile
"I'll use the door," he smiles back as he heads to the open door
Vision stops in the doorway and turns around to say one last thing.
"Oh, and apparently, he's brought a guest," Vision states
"Who is it?" I ask
"The Secretary of State," Vision replies before he turns around once more to head out the door
Wanda and I get up to join everyone at the meeting table. I see Tony and a smile creeps upon my face from ear to ear. He smiles back at me and holds his arms open for a hug. I walk over to Tony and he welcomes my embrace.
"I missed you kiddo," he says as we hug
"I missed you too, How is Pepper?" I ask
"She's good, we're good," he smiles
"Good," I smile back
We all sit around the table and become attentive as The Secretary of State begins to talk. I sat in between Vision and Steve which gave me a weird feeling. On the other side of Steve were Nat and Wanda, while on the other side of Vision were Sam and Rhodes. Tony sat in a chair away from the table but still sat attentively.
"Five years ago, I had a heart attack and dropped right in the middle of my backswing. Turned out it was the best round of my life, because after thirteen hours of surgery and a triple bypass... I found something that forty years in the army had never taught me. Perspective. The world owes the Avengers an unpayable debt. You have fought for us, protected us, risked your lives... but while many people see you as great heroes, there are some, who would prefer the word, vigilantes," the Secretary says
"What word would you use? Mr. Secretary?" Nat asks in a petty tone.
"How about dangerous?" he replies, dropping his smile
