I made my way back to the group after finding my ribbon without much effort.

I made a mental note to have Anne tie up my hair a bit tighter next time. Can't have it come undone and mess up my hair each time the wind blows.

The children with the exception of Angelica were gathered together trying to console a trembling Adam.

"Hey everyone!"

Adam jumped on seeing me approach them in a carefree manner.

"You..... I won't marry you!" He pointed a finger towards me as he shouted from the top of his lungs.

What..................?

Where is this coming from all of a sudden? I was so surprised that I stood planted like a tree. Not only me but everyone else was also in the same state.

My eyes went wide. It took my brain a minute to restart and process what he had just said.

"What are you talking about?" Clive was the first to come to his senses.

He had a serious expression on his face as he questioned Adam. He was not going to let it slide if Adam intended to hurt Angelica in any way.

"My mother told me that the daughter of the Ashford family will be my marriage partner" Adam began to explain with a half pale face.

Eh? Marriage party? Or did he say partner?

"Mother told me to get familiar with Angelica"

"Pfft" It was the twins. They were trembling all over, unable to control their laughter.

Tristan covered his mouth with his left hand and held Elliot as support with his right hand. He looked like he wanted to roll on the floor laughing.

I'm gonna kick them in the nuts if they keep at it.

But before that, just what exactly is Countess Norton thinking.

Marriage is not something that is to be discussed with a seven-year-old.

I guess it is natural to them since, nobility in this world tend to get engaged at a tender age.

But come on...........

It is too much for a modern twenty five year old to digest.

Sigh.

So this is why Adam has been behaving oddly since we met.

"God.....kids these days think about complicated stuff" I said as I massaged my throbbing head.

My brows knitted, unable to hide the frustration.

"When I was a kid, all I did was go rollerskating in the downtown park.........haaaah those were the days"

"You are still a kid" countered Elliot in between laughs.

"You have no idea what you're talking about KID" I resorted glaring at him.

But he still continued to laugh ignoring my murderous glare.

"She said that the 'Angelic' daughter of the Ashford house will be my wife" Adam turned towards me as he said that.

"But you..........." His hand trembled as he pointed towards me.

He sure does that a lot. I think he likes pointing stuff out.

"You're no 'Angel'. If anything you're a 'demon' " Adam let go of the breath he was holding in as he finished talking.

Demon? That came out of nowhere.

"HAHAHAHA"

Loud laughter came from my right as the twins were laughing lying on the floor. They were wiping the tear off their eyes that were formed from the uncontrollable laughter.

"Pfft" Even Clive was laughing at his outburst. You unfilial brother!

The only person who had no change in expression right from the beginning was Bryan. He was trying to lift up Elliot, who was tripping all over the floor due to his own laughter with a blank expression.

To create such a big impression. It wasn't even that big of a joke.

"A demon huh" I said as veins started popping on my forehead.

"Not the word I would prefer. But fine"

I shrugged as I walked towards him.

"Do you know what a demon does"

I smiled wickedly and I stopped right in front of Adam.

Adam flinched.

"What?" He asked, looking surprised at seeing me smile at him instead of crying or fighting back.

"It eats naughty kids" My smile widened as my emerald eyes glimmered in mischief.

"Wha..."

Before Adam could finish his sentence, I grabbed him by the collar and shoved the snake I had in my hand at his face.

*HISS*

Feeling threatened, the snake took a defensive stance.

Hissing loudly it pounced forward, missing Adam's nose by the inch of a hair.

"AAHHHHHHH" screaming Adam tried to run away.

But instead, he fell to the ground face-first on having tripped on the grass.

The other kids scattered and ran out in fear of being attacked. Although they had mouths as venomous as adults, they were still children.

Judging by the way they ran off, they must have been scared senseless by the little snake I picked up near the pond.

"Hey....you're not dead right?" I kicked Adam with my foot to check his condition.

He had passed out on the ground from the shock.

"Angelica!" I could hear my mother call out to me in an anxious voice.

*hiss*

Originally, I had planned to let the little snake go after playing with him a little bit. But because of this unconscious fool on the ground, it is going to be difficult to bring him inside the house.

Therefore, I decided to let him go after dealing with Mom.

"I'm sorry for surprising you little one" I consoled the snake and put him in my pocket before Mom reached me.
