on the nights we couldn't sleep
we passed the hours together
faces illuminated by candlelight
i memorized the pages of your soul
scored down by my charcoal eyes
every inch of you etched for eternity
your davidian visage outshone the moon
as you reveled in the auric words of old
time stands still as we sit in the dark
but moments like these should last forever
these are the hours i know i love you
and perhaps you may love me too
