"Your mundane, as promised," the blonde said as she pushed him through the door and shut it behind her.

Clary wasted no time in wrapping him in a hug, the boy still traumatised as he stuttered, "Sh-shouldn't we get the hell out of here?"

"Why Simon?" Jace asked.

"Because they're right downstairs!"

"Let them come after us," he replied. "They'll just turn into a bunch of fried eggs out here. I thought you said you watched movies?" Jace said annoyed, as the blonde girl ran for Alec.

The boy had discarded his bow and quiver solely for this as he caught her, her legs wrapping around his waist as their lips met, his hands on her thighs before they settled on her back in a hug.

"I missed you," she said.

"I missed you more. Three days is too long."

"We fire messaged every day though?" the girl said as she pulled back to meet his hazel eyes.

"My statement still stands."

She smiled as she rolled her eyes before kissing him again and he gently set her down before their moment was interrupted by the sound of Clary's voice and Alec groaned in annoyance.

"Wait, but I thought you and Jace were together? Who are you anyway?"

The girl stared at her for a moment before looking up to Alec and saying, "Now I get why you missed me."

Alec huffed a laugh as he kissed her before she moved over to Jace, her heels crunching on the gravel as she threw an arm over his shoulders as his arm moved around her shoulders.

"Take a guess, Fairchild."

Clary's eyebrows furrowed as she looked at them both, the artist side of her noticing the similarities. The hair, their eyes, the curve of their lips, the arch of their nose.

"Are you related?" she questioned.

The two laughed.

"Are we related?" the girl mocked as Jace smirked.

"This is Serena. She's my twin sister," he introduced.

"You're Serena?!" Clary exclaimed.

"Why, you expecting someone else?" Serena smirked.

"No. It's just, well, they've all been talking about you since I got here and no one really told me who you were," Clary admitted.

"Well, I'm Jace's older sister, to put it simply. I'm Serena Lightwood."

"Lightwood? Not Wayland?" Clary further questioned, Alec rolling his eyes at how long it took the girl to put it together.

"You're two minutes older than me!" Jace whined but he was ignored.

"I was a Wayland until a year ago, when I married a Lightwood," she said winking over to Alec who couldn't help but smile at her and Clary gaped. "And we've lived with them since Jace and I were 10 years old. We're basically honorary Lightwoods. I'm also Izzy's parabatai."

Clary whirled to Isabelle who pulled down the strap of her red dress to reveal the parabatai rune that sat under her collarbone, near her heart, in the same place as Serena's.

"How did you know Raphael? I mean, he listened to you. He gave you Simon."

"My sister-in-law is quite skilled at public relations. You know the Envoy to the Downworld that we mentioned? That is Serena's official title," Izzy explained.

"What exactly is an Envoy to the Downworld?" Clary asked.

"The Clave is Shadowhunter run, and Serena basically speaks on behalf of the Downworld. She's kind of an activist for them. She works to improve their relationship with the Clave. And surprisingly, the Downworld support her. And they typically don't like Shadowhunters, but they seem to like her for some strange reason," Izzy explained with a smirk to the blonde.

"Don't even, Iz. You all love me," Serena smirked back.

"Can I have a word with you two?" Alec asked as he, Jace and Serena moved to a higher part of the roof, Clary going back to hugging Simon and making sure that he was alright.

"What is it, Alec?" Jace asked as they face one another, Alec rearmed with his bow and arrows.

"Jace, you don't know this girl. Think about who her father is."

"Do not start this again with me, Alec," Jace said with his arms crossed, and Serena sighed. She hated it when her husband and brother fought.

"She just came out of nowhere," Alec continued.

"She has no one!"

"Just listen to me for one second-"

"ALEC STOP!"

Serena flinched.

"Just stop," Jace repeated.

Alec was unphased by his brother's yelling as he said, almost relieved, "I'm older than you Jace. I'm not in your shadow."

Jace glanced down towards Clary, who was watching them with her hand still interlinked with Simon's, Isabelle next to them as she reapplied her lipstick.

"If you really feel that way about her, then why did you help us tonight?"

Alec was silent as he left, unable to put what he wanted to say into words.

Serena turned on her brother.

"You wanna know why he helped? Why I helped? To stop you and Izzy from being killed. You know the drill Jace, four go in, four come out. And this girl, who you've suddenly thrown out all the rules for, has made you lose sight of that."

"You don't know her, Rena."

"Oh, and you do?! Let me tell you what I've learnt about her in the five minutes I've known her. She is selfish. She had no care for my life, or Alec's, or Izzy's or yours, going into that vampire den. Had I not been there, you probably would've killed Raphael to get that mundane back, breaking the Accords and starting an uprising with the vampires! Jacey, I love you, and I know that you want to take care of Clary because you see yourself in her but, remember that you never had nothing. You had me. And Alec and Izzy and Max and Robert and Maryse. And you need to think about us and not just Clary before you go running into a vampire den."

Wreaked with guilt, Jace was silent as his sister pressed a kiss to his cheek, but just before she was about to walk off, she poked a finger to his chest.

"But don't think that you're off the hook. I already know about everything you pulled while I was gone. We're still going to talk about that," she warned before walking off after her husband.
