We somehow ended up on Adonis's bed. I spent hours tracing figures on his arm as he ran his fingers through my hair with one hand and held me close to him protectively with his other.
"Why don't you like me?" I ask looking up at his grey eyes. He rubs my cheek gently with his thumb.
"I like you Athanasia- it's just I can't risk you being around me. I can't control my temper and I'm a bad person, we just don't mix," he tells me in the most soothing tone.
"You're not a bad person Adonis, we are eachother's converse-souls. We are meant to be together- as friends of course," I correct myself.
"Of course," he chuckles. "Let's just enjoy this moment right now."
"No," I say and I hear my voice crack slightly. "Please don't shut me out after this. I can't take you being nice one minute to hating me the next Adonis, please don't do that to me."
"Ok," he looks at me with this certain stare that just makes you fall. "I won't."
I scoot closer to his chest and rest my head on his arm. I feel my eyelids grow heavy as I slowly drift off to the sleep.
...
I wake up and his bed is cold. Adonis is gone and it's completely dark outside.
I walk out to the living room expecting to see him out there but he's no where to be found.
A small notes sits on the table, "Don't do anything stupid," it reads. I'm thankful he let me stay but I guess a small part of me hoped he would ask me again after our conversation.
The fact I fell asleep in Adonis's arms is strange but somehow we just ended up there. I know better too and letting myself be vulnerable around Adonis is a terrible idea and won't end up going anywhere good.
I am water and he is fire. If that does say it then I don't know what will.
