Sitting around a candlelit table
On the night of my birthday
I've had so many of these nights
With a family together on my birthday
But I know the pattern, and my siblings know too
That happiness is temporary
Like the candles burning away
On the cake saying 7
Or on the one saying 11
Happiness is always temporary
Like a fleeting moment
Too beautiful to resist
So dreamlike
For dreams fade so fast
Before they are ours to catch
Happiness never lasts
I remember the days when I'd give a damnWhen my parents fight and yell
Now I know that I don't give a damn
When my parents fight and yell
Now I just want you to pack your bag
Get your split of the money
Leave us
I no longer find happiness in togetherI find happiness in alone
I hate it when we're all together
I get nostalgia
When I think of the good days
When we could get along at the dinner table
Now I think
How tragic it is
That many are still too young
To hold 100 balloons of happiness within them
