"Kurenai, you almost drowned to death earlier, you really shouldn't be heading over to see her like this. Please!" Despite the urgent pleading from the tall man that saved her life on this past mission, she is unwilling to give up on this. Yunho, Wooyoung, and a worried Hongjoong who were currently the only ones back at the dorms quickly trail after her, speed-walking to maintain her quick-step pace.
It had been about two hours since they got back from their little expedition where she almost drowned and though showered, stable, fed, and warmed up she's still feeling something eat away at her. Something she desperately needs her mother to answer for. She doesn't care if it'll harm her in the long run. She must know.
"I can't rest." Kurenai mutters to herself which only Hongjoong is able to catch as he's the closest. As the leader and assigned head of this specific mission, he can't help but feel guilt eating away at him after being debriefed by Wooyoung and Yunho. He can't help but blame himself for what happened while they were underground and offline. He doesn't even want to think about what he'll have to explain to San and Mingi, who worry the most over her, about her mental and physical state.
They're nearing Isla's room and they're all anxious at what the woman might do seeing her mother in this fragile state. Hongjoong reaches out to grasp her arm and she fails to pull away, swiveling just inches away from her mother's room to face the blue-haired man.
"Kurenai, you're not in a position to go in there right now. I can't imagine what you might've uncovered back with Yunho and Woo, but you can't lose control. Not when we're so close to getting Candy." He pleads, slightly loosening his grip on her arm. The tattooed woman looks down at her feet.
"I have to." She utters, audible enough to reach the three men's ears. "There's just too many questions. Too many loose ends right now." She says referring to her memories which no one knows she's fully recovered. In fact, she's not even sure those memories are really hers after being fed lies all these years. "She's all I've got right now and I'm not going to throw away my shot at finally piecing everything together. So let me." Hongjoong stands there, too confused to make a decision but that's all Kurenai really needs to remove herself from his grip and enter into the infirmary wherein her mother lies.
Click. Goes the door as she turns the lock, sealing herself and her mother in.
The air stills and drops a few degrees. There the older woman, her supposed mother, lies on the infirmary bed— weak and fragile. The bed's been angled up in a half-sitting position for the older woman to get her blood flowing and seeing her that way, Kurenai doesn't know whether to speak or approach her first. It's almost as if a knot is tying her tongue down.
She's figured that Isla already knows or can at least sense that she's in the room, so she waits for Isla to react first. Right about her Meister as always, Isla's eyes slowly open and land on her, that piercing stare that always seems to read a little too much into her core.
"You know, pequeñita* (tiny), you almost fooled me. You were so still just now I almost thought I was hallucinating you in my room." Isla addresses the younger woman, her voice sounding the same which is a big contrast to how weak she looks.
"I learned from the best, didn't I?" Kurenai answers, stepping forward though hesitant. That tiny hesitance in her step causes a frown on Isla's face.
