As March began, the day of the party arrived.

Mew paced the room nervously while he waited for Gulf to get ready.

"Would you calm down, Mew?" Mild said sharply.

"Calm down? Are you saying I'm not calm?" Mew fired back, face twisted. He seemed upset.

Mild shrugged. "I'll just leave you alone."

Mew plunked himself into a chair gloomily.

Mild had never seen his friend get this irritable at the slightest things. Even when the subway had been bombed by terrorists three years earlier, he'd seemed unruffled. And now, to see him so completely worked up over a party...he must have been incredibly worried for Gulf.

Mew had changed lately. For one thing, he drank less. Until recently, he would drown his boredom in alcohol everyday. And now, though he'd never shown the slightest concern for anything before, he was worried for Gulf as if for himself.

'Maybe this is a good thing.'

Mild didn't whole-heartedly embrace this idea, however, since the change was due not to him, but the sudden appearance of a young Thai boy.

"Gulf is certainly taking a long time to get ready. I wonder if he's all right," he said, voicing Mew's concerns.

He felt that he understood Mew's mind completely. They had spent enough time together for that. But he still had no power to change his friend.

"There's no room for failure this time," Mew said finally, smiling.

Foreign royalty would also be attending this party. If Gulf were to be revealed, the scandal might not be limited to England.
