"What are you doing, Jace? There are people like everywhere" I say, my mind spinning from his actions

"What are you doing, Jace? There are people like everywhere" I say, my mind spinning from his actions. He stops taking his sweater off right away, with his head already through. Trying to stay serious, he breaks out into a big laugh at my confused face.

"As much as I like what you're thinking, I'm not into the whole being watched thing" he chuckles at me.  Once he calms down a little, he adds "I need to show you something. I wanted to wait until tonight, but I can't."

"Okay... What is it?" I ask him anxiously, sitting up next to Jace as he sits up on his knees to continue taking off his sweater. He drops it to the floor, and all that he's left wearing is a black t-shirt. My eyes fall to his in tattoos covered arm right away. "What, did you get a new tattoo?" I say, perking up at the idea, roaming his arm with my eyes to find a new one I haven't seen before, under the many different shapes and sizes.

Jace doesn't say anything and his face doesn't show a lot of emotion. Yet, he seems super sincere, vulnerable almost, and definitely anxious to hear my opinion.  He removes his tattooed arm from my sight and holds out his other arm in front of me. My smile fades away instantly as I see what is covering the arm that's never been touched by tattoos before. always, i'll care. I read the words in messy handwriting, in the same spot I got my very first tattoo with him just a little while ago.

My eyes grow wide as I look into Jace's eyes, waiting for him to tell me that this is just a joke. "You didn't" I whisper under my breath, before my hands grab onto his arm immediately. I rub over the tattoo to see if it will come off, or if it's actually real.

Jace chuckles at my actions. "It's real, dummy" he says, bringing both of his hands on either side of my cheeks. "I meant what I said after the concert. I love you, Mila. I know I'm not perfect but I want to try, for you. And your favourite song seemed kind of fitting you know, I'll always care about you and I want you to know that" he says, sounding out of breath from all of the words he just said.

I think back to the Jeremy Zucker concert we were at only a few days ago, where he said those words to me for the very first time. Realisation hits me.  Jace got a tattoo for me, just for me. And not just somewhere in between all of his other tattoos but on the arm that was untouched, right in the spot where mine is, and in the same messy handwriting. It's not just my favourite song, but it's supposed to tell me that he'll always care about me. All of the emotions I'm feeling flood over me, as a few little tears start rolling down my face. I try to cover my eyes with my right hand, so Jace won't see.

"Hey hey hey. Why are you crying?" he says, slowly removing my hand from my face, to wipe my tears with his thumb.

I can't answer, instead I wrap my arms around his neck and press my lips onto his roughly. We kiss for a while, until we have to pull away for air. I lean my forehead onto his and whisper "I love you" back to him.

Jace chuckles slightly. "So, you like it?" he asks me.

"Of course I like it. Let me look at it" I say chuckling back through my tears, grabbing his arm gently, to look at it further. Once again I rub over it, inspecting it closely.  "You know, for someone who claims to be not perfect, this is a pretty perfect gesture" I tell him quietly, half-smiling.
