Chapter 20- An Odd Wake-Up Call

Waking up without being handcuffed to the bed was strange for Valentina

The feeling of arms around her was also strange

But the feeling of peoples breathes against her neck and check were the strangest of all

Valentina looked down to see one delicate and dainty arm slung over her, and underneath that arm, was a metal one

She tried to shift her body, only for the arms to tighten around her

"Morning" Bucky said in her ear

His voice was deep and rough

It was amazing

Almost enough to make Valentina feel desire

"Morning" she responded clearing her throat

Natalia also started moving around

She opened her eyes to see both Bucky and Valentina watching her

"Well this isn't weird at all" she mumbled

"Did you sleep ok?" She asked Valentina

"Slept just fine" Valentina said

She tried to shuffle away only to have Bucky hold her down

"Am I not allowed to get out of this bed?" She asked looking back at him

"It's only 5 am" Bucky said

"Go back to sleep" Natalia said while snuggling into Valentina

"You can go back to sleep just as soon as you let me go" Valentina said trying to sit up

"You're not getting up for at least a few more hours, go to sleep" Bucky said pulling her back down to the bed

She huffed and stopped moving, knowing she wouldn't win against a metal arm

Stupid Hydra

Natalia's hand went up and started brushing through Valentina's hair

She wanted to move away but there was nowhere to go except closer to Bucky, also not ideal

She laid still just staring ahead, eventually going back to a dreamless sleep

This time when Valentina woke up, it was to a phone turning on and footsteps

She opened her eyes to see a phone aimed at her face

As soon as Clint's camera turned on, he screeched loudly when he saw Valentina looking at him through the camera

The scream woke Bucky up instantly

He jumped straight out of bed grabbed Valentina and threw her over his shoulder

Natasha also woke up instantly and pulled the gun from under her pillow out, pointing it at Clint

Once everyone took a second to look at what was happening, they saw Clint clutching his phone in his hand, wide eyes, and one leg up like he was scared and jumping away

"What the hell are you doing?" Natasha yells putting her gun down and smacking her own head

At the same time, Pietro, Loki, Steve, and Tony came bursting in

"What's going on!?" Steve yelled with his shield in hand

"I was just taking a picture, and then I looked away and when I look back she was staring at me through the camera! I got scared!" Clint tried explaining

"Will you put me down now?" Valentina asked in a queasy voice e see

"Right! Sorry Doll! You alright?" Bucky asked, placing her on her feet gently

"Fine" she said while steadying herself by planting her palms on Bucky's chest

She thought the room would stop spinning after a few seconds but it didn't

"Valen, are you ok?"" Natasha asked

Valentina's hands moved up to Bucky's shoulders and she gripped them hard

"Doll, talk to us? What's going on? What's wrong?" Bucky asked with clear concern while wrapping and arm tightly around her waist

"Everything is spinning" she said quietly

The next thing Bucky saw was Valentina's eyes rolling back and her body going limp

"I got ya" Bucky said using his other hand to hold her to his own body

"Val! Valentina!?" Natasha exclaimed

"Jarvis, tell Bruce to meet us in the medbay" Tony said

"On it sir" the AI replied

Bucky bent down slightly and grabbed her legs in one arm, carrying her bridal style

He walked her down to the med bay where Bruce already was with all his equipment

"What happened?" Bruce asked calmly

"I think she just fainted. We had an... incident, and I carried her over my shoulder for a while" Bucky admitted

Bruce took her vitals and checked to see whether the concussion had gotten worse

"Everything looks fine to me, when she wakes up we can be sure" Bruce says

They waited about 10 minutes before Valentina woke up

"Morning" Tony said as he saw her opening her eyes

"You feel alright Doll?" Bucky asked cautiously

"Yea I feel fine, just have the worst headache ever" she said quietly

"Valentina can I just run a few tests on you to make sure everything's ok?" Bruce asked

Valentina nodded but instantly regretted it feeling immense pain

Bruce got his pen light and flashed it in Valentina's eye, making her snap her eyes close in pain

"Sorry," Bruce said with a regretful look on his face

"Can you squeeze my hands?" He asks putting his hands towards her

She squeezes but it's weaker than it should be

Bruce walked to a cabinet and looks through a folder before pulling out an index card

There were rows of numbers on it

"Can you read the numbers on this third row out loud?" He asked showing her the card

"1, 6, 7... 3 ... 9 ... um, 5 .... 2, ... 8 ... and, um, 4" she says

"That shouldn't have taken you as long as it did. You really need to take it easy for the next few weeks, or else you might be at risk of slow neural processing, memory disruption and just overall brain damage and deterioration" Bruce said seriously while taking off his glasses

"When I say take it easy I mean really easy, no excess walking, or physical activity, I don't want you going anywhere on foot actually, you can use a wheelchair or be carried everywhere. No bright screens, no math, no reading, no thinking too hard, do you understand?" Bruce asks strictly

"Val, promise you'll let us take care of you for a little while" Natasha said painfully

For a moment everyone is silent, and Valentina doesn't say anything

"Valentina" Natasha says desperately

"Ok, yes, I'll take it easy for a little while. Promise" Valentina says nodding very slightly
