"Who's the man? You're the man, Strong, healthy, black man..." I sung aloud to my aunt and cousin in the living room. My aunt was doing my cousins hair...

-Setting my cup of tea down, finally finished.

"ahah them cornrows look tight. Aunty gripping that scalp huh ?" I said laughing at my cousin, and putting one of my knees up to my chest.

"Girl hush up" said my aunt, followed by,

"You finished that tea ? Y'all young folks always wanna drink soda and juice... ought to have something warm for once" she complained with her thick accent.

I chuckled getting up from the couch and walking out front to my Mail box.

My mother was at work for a while and my other older cousin is out doing...probably gang related things.

I skimmed through the stack of Mail- eagerly- and finally found mine. My paycheck...

"Nothing like the sweet smell of money huh ?" My aunt asked taking a quick break from my cousin's hair.

"Tuh... money smell like metal and ass cheeks" my cousin said, quickly being hit from cussing.

I have a 2 cousins. One of which are a boy and the other is a girl. I JUST turned 18, and I'm in my last year of high school. My cousin Shania is 17, turning 18 soon too. My boy cousin is Elijah, who just turned 21 a couple months ago.

Their names are Shania and Elijah, but we call them Nia & Eli.

I went upstairs and plopped down on my bed, scrolling through Instagram.

I sat my phone down and sighed.

-staring at my father and I in our picture on my nightstand.

He was murdered, and we still don't know who did it. It broke my heart and my mothers.

In my eyes, he was a great father. I just wish he wasn't so deep in the street life...

I got up again grabbing my pay check, ready to cash it out. I grabbed my keys.

As I'm walking out I notice Shania getting up from her chair shaking off the hair and dandruff that rested on her clothes. As she stretched she yelled "WAITTT"

I rolled my eyes. "Girl you betta clean this up" my aunt said pointing to the mess in the ground.

She huffed and I went and waited in my car.

In the corner of my eye I see 𝙖 𝙣𝙞𝙜𝙜𝙖 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙧 𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙𝙨, 𝙖𝙣 𝙤𝙗𝙡𝙤𝙘𝙠 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙜𝙧𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨. 𝙄 𝙘𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙙𝙣𝙩 𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚 𝙤𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙝𝙤 𝙞𝙩 𝙬𝙖𝙨... 𝙃𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣 𝙥𝙪𝙩 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙙𝙞𝙚 𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙝𝙚𝙖𝙙, 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙖 𝙨𝙝𝙖𝙙𝙚 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙛𝙖𝙘𝙚.

"AHAHAHH not this nigga tryna be like King Von.. shiii I bet that oblock chain fake asl..." I teased to myself.

I squinted my eyes at him...

He looked at me with a death stare and turned the corner, walking away.

Damn.. I would've jumped out and ran to him, but he look angry asl.

I mean who doesn't want a picture with king Von

I was at a loss of words.

I snapped out of my thoughts watching Nia walk out the house.

"Hey bitch.. why you look like that ?" She asked..

"I- huh... oh nothing.." I reply.

I knew she was going to overreact.
