Sequel to "sometimes walking out is the one thing (that will find you the right thing)".
There was a lot of request for a sequel to my one-shot "sometimes walking out is the one thing (that will find you the right thing)" so I wanted to write one. Hope you guys like it!
This part is basically a heart to heart between Serkan and Ferit, also featuring Selin's manipulation coming to light. There is a lot of dialogue in this one. Seriously, 95% of this thing is dialogue. There will be a third (and final) part to wrap up this story.
Artistic liberties taken, as usual. I also reordered chapters so that all three parts of this are together. Just FYI.
======================
-SIX MONTHS LATER-
Ferit walked into the office with a bounce in his step and a smile on his face. Spending the last three months away from ArtLife's Istanbul office turned out to be exactly what he needed.
Both he and Eda worked hard to establish ArtLife's newest branch in London. It took three months to get everything going and he stayed an additional three months so she wouldn't be on her own right off the gate.
He and Eda bonded over their broken hearts and their friendship was extremely valuable for him. She was the little sister he never had. She was fun to be around. She had this way of making him forget all his problems and live in the moment, happy and free. She also happened to be very good at deflecting unwanted advances on him when they went out for drinks. That girl was something else.
She was still in love with Serkan and Ferit understood that moving forward with her life wasn't going to be easy for her. But she was much better now. Better than she was when she had left the country. He was there for her the same way she was there for him. Wine and popcorn with a cheesy romcom on Netflix followed by a Skype call to Melo so they could gossip about anything and everything turned into a weekly tradition. One that they had every intention of continuing.
He almost didn't want to leave her on her own and come back to Turkey but he had other businesses to handle here. And she was ready. They had formed a good team there to help her out. Besides, it was only a couple hours of plane ride. He could go whenever he wanted or needed to.
He stepped foot into the building and immediately came face to face with Leyla.
"Mr. Ferit? Welcome back!"
"It's good to be back Leyla. How are you? How is everyone?"
"Good. Same old, same old. It's been very boring around here since you and Ms. Eda left. How is she?"
"She's good. Much better than she was when we left. Can you check Serkan's schedule for me? If he's free, I'd like to have a meeting to update him on the London office."
"Of course. I'll set it up and let you know."
"Thanks Leyla. I'll be in my office."
He saw Selin on his way to his office. He wasn't in love with her anymore. Those feelings were, along with whatever he felt for Ceren, were long dead and buried.
"Ferit?"
"Selin."
"So you're back. We were beginning to think you'd moved there permanently."
"You knew it was only a temporary arrangement for me. I only went to help Eda set everything up and make sure she wouldn't be on her own in the beginning."
"You too huh?"
"Me too what?"
"You fell for her manipulations too. What is it with this girl and manipulating rich guys? So when's the wedding?"
"Know your place, Selin. Eda never manipulated anyone. That's not who she is. And there is nothing romantic between me and Eda. There never was and never will be. What Eda and I have is called friendship. Try it sometime. With the right people, it'll do you wonders."
With that, he turned to go to his office.
After he spent a few hours getting caught up, Leyla called to let him know that Serkan was free at the moment and waiting for him with the others. So he went down to Serkan's office, greeting a couple people on the way.
