Chapter 111

Charlie

My first day in New York is busy meeting new people from different companies.

During the meeting I am asked if I will be willing to work here in New York for a week next month. I agreed as I know that it's the week that Mia is in London. But then remember that as I will be coming home, she will be heading to New York for a week. Meaning that'll be two weeks that I won't see her. I don't like being apart from her for that long as I miss her so much. But now I'm thinking that I could hang about in New York after my week here next month so that I do get to spend some time with her.

My meetings go on all day and through half the evening too as I'm having another meeting over dinner. It doesn't bother me, the only thing that does is the fact that Lola has been invited on this trip too.

I'm asked about my life in Nottingham, I told them about the business in my company and then I told them all about my beautiful girlfriend Mia. I noticed Lola out the corner of my eye. When I talked about me she looked so interested though whenever Mia was mentioned, Lola looked in the opposite direction. As I paused for a moment and took a sip of my wine, my phone vibrated. I pulled it out of my pocket to see that Mia had sent me four messages. Each one said that she missed and loved me. I messaged her back telling her that I was thinking about her and loved her too.

After the meal, Lola and I shared a taxi back to the hotel. As she got out of the lift on the second floor I politely said goodnight to her and carried on up to the top floor. I went to bed feeling a little tipsy.

In the morning, I got up a little earlier and showered then after getting dressed I got into the lift hoping that I'd not see Lola. Luckily I didn't. The doorman hailed me a taxi and I got in and headed to the offices.

I'm shown to a private office where I can get on with my work. Half an hour past and Lola suddenly appeared in the doorway.

I glanced at her and said "hi."

"Good morning Charlie. I was waiting for you at the hotel, I thought we'd be getting a taxi here together. But it's ok, I completely understand. You're fighting the urge to want me."

As I looked up at her and shook my head she started to walk over to me and was slowly unbuttoning her blouse.

"Lola stop this." I said, feeling really uncomfortable

She undid the last one as she reached me and stood next to me and bent down.

I kept my eyes on my laptop screen the whole time.

"Charlie look at me, I know you want me." She said then blew across the back of my neck.

"No Lola I don't!" I shout at her.

She took off her blouse and lent in towards me.

"Are you sure, how about now?"

I pushed my chair away from the desk and stood up then picked up her blouse and threw it at her.

"Oh come on Charlie, stop playing this game. I know you're only with Mia to make me jealous. It's hard to admit but it is working."

"No. I'm with Mia because I love her, she is my everything and I am hers. She is the love of my life and always will be."

"Are you serious, what about us? When are you going to see her for who she really is. A trashy chav gold digger!"

"There is no us and never has been! Sleeping with you all those years ago was the biggest mistake I ever made and I have regretted it ever since. I'm sick and tired of you constantly bad mouthing Mia, she's a better person than you will ever be Lola! And if you want to bad mouth someone take it out on me. Mia's been nothing but polite to you this whole time and me moving on in life and falling in love has made you obsessed and cruel because you can't have what you want. You're pathetic and a cruel person Lola and you're never going to find happiness if you carry on this way! You know what I only hired you because your dad invested in my business when I first started and I respect your dad for what he did to help me out at the time when I needed his help and in return he asked me to give you a job.
