The six year old limped towards the metal gate of the abandoned building, curiously entering the old broken down building.

The place was filled with cobwebs, spiders and all kinds of other insects. The sandy blonde hair already had specks of dust and dirt in it, immediately jerking his head after hearing a twig snap.

He furrowed his eyebrows concussed, but then a boy younger than him peeked his head out the corner.

"Hello, what's your name?" The older spoke softly and gently at the younger.

"I'm Derek Hathaway who are you?" The five year old looked at him with fearful wide eyes.

"I'm Grayson Moss."

"Oh wait, is your dad, Alexander Moss?" The six year old nodded. "My dad is trying to kill yours."

"Oh well we can still be friends right?" The dark haired boy gave him a bright toothy grin nodding vigorously.

That's how it all begin, they always would sneak out and hangout both families on the run and going the same direction, there was so much for the duo to explore.

The dark haired boy stared at the seven year old, who sprinted through the long grass fields, a bright smile spread across Dereks face.

The black orbs lighting up as the older ran back to him, tackling him with a huge hug. Both of the boys laughed loudly, giggling as pretended to wrestle.

At that moment Derek made a swear to himself to never hurt the sandy blonde, the light purple orbs gaze shifted to the field as heat blazed through the air.

"We should run away one day." The seventeen year old blurted out.

"We should but we can't Gray, our fathers would find us and hurt us, I don't want you to get hurt."

"Do you think we will ever be able to get out of this life?"

"Maybe when we're sixteen or eighteen, imagine that age. I can't wait for the big sixteen, we will be having so much fun."

"I can't wait until I'm seventeen and your sixteen."

By the time Grayson was eight, the person he cared for the most was his best friend Derek, he figured that out when they were in a large tree goofing around with bows and arrows.

As Blonde drew back his arrow he glanced at the dark haired boy.

"Hey Der you promise to always be here with me, right?"

"Of course Gray, I'm always going to be on your side until we die." He gave the older a nudge, happily smiling at him.

"Ok so what if you took a gigantic poop on his pillow?" Grayson continued on with there conversation, the two began to grow so close, they would catch each other saying words at the same time or finishing each other's sentences it was like the duo could read each other's mind.

One night when Grayson was ten and he had snuck Derek into his house, they both uncontrollably laughed.

His door swung open revealing both of his parents, shellshocked at the young Hathaway in their house, but a few second after that happened something, a elder man walked into the room and his best friend said nine words the older never wanted to hear.

"Daddy, Grayson and Mr and Mrs moss are there."

The blonde panicky looked at his best friend, his face obviously screamed hurt from betrayal. Gray watched as the grown man shot his mother.

"Grayson, remember our training!" His dad screamed, the blonde frowned as quickly grabbed a gun on the table, shooting the middle aged guy right in the head.

His father quickly ran out the door leaving his ten year old son, staring down at the dead body, a face that was now engraved into his brain.

He glanced back up at the younger, tears threatening to spill.

"H-How could you?"

Present time

"I-I killed you, how are you alive?" The seventeen year old asked, eyes widen with fear, frantically looking the elder up and down.

"People like us don't just die from ten year olds, no we fake our deaths and leave the life." He said nonchalantly, walking over to the kettle and putting water in it. What the fuck does that mean?

"Are you going to hurt me? Or try to kill me?" The white haired man rose a eye brow, and shrugged.

"Nope, so what's been happening in your life?" The younger shoulders relaxed, slowly putting his knife onto the counter.

"Not much, your son is trying to ruin me and my friends life, also he just killed my best friends mother figure but other than that everything has been good, I got job that makes me rich for being a teenager." Jason snorted, a small smile appearing onto his face.

"Fuckin hated that child, I don't know how you guys were best friends all those years."

"Wait hold you knew?!"

"You guys weren't discreet as you thought, but do you ever miss that bitch?" The younger sunk back, he already knew the answer to that question he frowned.

"Yea I do."

What happened to that promise?
