👾3rd Person P.O.V:
"hello?" the rooster head picked up the incoming call from his childhood best friend
"hey"
"what's up, why'd you call? is everything okay"
"I...I broke up with her"
"you did what now?!" Kuroo gritted his teeth. He's never been this mad at Kenma before, sure he's been annoyed, but nothing like the anger he was feeling bubbling in his throat right now.
"I broke up with her."
"why the hell did you break up with her?! better yet, WHEN the hell did you break up with her?!"
"about a month ago... I had to" Kenma barely managed to croak out.
Kuroo took a seat on his bed, there was no reason to yell at Kenma, he could hear the hurt, an audible sigh could be heard before he spoke up, "That was one of the dumbest decisions you could've made. Don't you remember Yaku and I telling you to hold onto her?"
"yeah, but it's just... Kuro...I, ugh, I don't know"
"why'd you wait a month to tell me"
"because I didn't know how to tell you"
"...what'd she say"
"she asked if we could work things out. I told her no"
"Kenmaaaaaaaaa"
"...I know"
"look, why don't you meet me at that cafe near our houses, you know, the one with the fountain Lev fell into that one night"
"yeah, alright"
The line went dead, and Kenma readjusted his route to head to the cafe. Kuroo lifted himself off of his bed, he stared at the wall for a moment before he let his head fall, shaking it back and forth in disapproval. He'd figured out it wasn't anger bubbling in him on that call a few moments ago, it was disappointment and worry.
Kireina's P.O.V:
As we approached the cafe, Matsuomoto and I decided that we'd actually keep it short. I told him I wanted to get some homework done, but really it was that we passed by the game store and I saw a new game out and it was available to buy online... so you can piece together the rest.
"so, how is it being a manager for a boys team? I know the boys on the baseball team can be pretty rowdy, but we don't have a manager" Matsuomoto laughed while taking a sip of his matcha milkshake.
"it's fun I suppose," I let out a small chuckle, "I mean, sometimes it can be really chaotic, but I've become accustomed to it to be honest. between My cousins being volleyball players and all, I'm used to loud teenage boys"
"oh? your cousins play volleyball too? what're their names"
"ah, Atsumu and Osamu Miya. They're twins actually"
"wow, twins! that sounds like a handful, man. Your aunt must be busy"
I laughed, thinking back to my last conversation with my aunt and how she was just casually speaking to me on the phone like nothing was happening all while she made the boys clean the entire house for her as she sat back.
"...oh, you'd be surprised"
"so, do twins run on your mom's side or your dad's side?"
"actually, neither. It's their dad who has twins running on his side"
"oh wow, that's cool! My mom's highschool best friend is a twin and seeing photos of the two of them with my mom is really trippy!"
"the boys dye their hair so you can tell them apart easier. I've just gotten used to looking at their eye color though, since that was really the only way you could tell the two of them apart when we were younger"
"I can imagine having to get used to that."
"it's actually pretty funny. Sometimes a fangirl will approach the wrong twin, and oh man is it entertaining"
"really, you figure if you're a fangirl you could tell the two apart-" my phone began to ring, interrupting Matsuomoto's sentence.
I looked down to see who's calling, but in the corner of my eye I could see what looked like a salty look on his face, but when I brought my head back up to look at him it was just a calm face.
"was it spam?"
"yeah, I'm half tempted just to chuck my phone off a bridge"
we both laughed.
...hm, must've just been a trick of the eye or something.
🎮🎮🎮
I was reaching to pay the bill when Matsuomoto slipped the required amount onto the tray. I looked up to say something, in hopes I could pay for at least my portion, but he spoke before I could.
"as a thank you, you know, for accompanying me"
I looked a little confusedly towards him at first but eventually just nodded and thanked him myself.
as we were leaving he asked me if I wanted him to walk home with me but I told him no since the cafe was close enough to my house.
On my walk home my brain was flooded with excitement. I'd been closely watching the drop date for the game for months now, but they randomly surprised everyone with an online drop due to it being the creator's birthday. I walked a little faster than normal, excitement and anticipation driving me.
I looked to my left for a brief moment before turning on my street and saw a car that looked almost identical to kozume's mom's, right down the the little omamori with a cat embroidered on it hanging from her rear view mirror. I shrugged it off though, attributing it to the same thing that made me think Matsuomoto was giving me a dirty look earlier.
I unlocked the door to my house and entered the entryway, announcing I was home and taking my shoes off. I bolted my way up to my gaming room, setting up the game to download first thing.
I cried out loud looking at the 2 hour download wait time. I drug my feet out of my gaming room and into my bedroom, throwing my stuff onto the chair I usually keep it on. I took a glance around my room and let out a sarcastic laugh.
"why's it so messy" i sighed, shaking my head.
I resigned myself to cleaning my room while waiting for my game to download. First picking up bits and pieces of trash and throwing them away, then doing any and everything else except from my clothes because at least 3/4 of my closet appears to have vomited and made my room its target.
I sighed, looking at the half full bar on the download screen, then back at my room coated in clothing. It took every once of effort in me to start picking things up.
I was almost done with all of my clothes, but looked over to mt.hooodie-everest and groaned. I grabbed sweatshirts one by one, putting them up and away until I got to the bottom of the pile and froze.
There sat the sweatshirt Kozume had given to me.
the one thing that dredged up memories and emotions of the day him and I broke up.
