Ember felt blood rush to her cheeks at his words, "What?"

Fred stopped at the beginning of the moving staircase and looked down at her in his arms. "You heard me"

There were so many things she wanted to say and ask but nothing escaped from her lips.

He gently set her down on her feet and smiled to himself. "I know you probably have no idea what I'm talking about. I'm sorry, I just had to tell you even if you're confused"

Ember shrugged, "I know some things"

He furrowed his eyebrows at her, "Some things about us?"

She nodded, "Not a lot but yes. I know we had a complicated relationship before I lost my memories"

He grabbed her hands, "You remembered that?"

"No no no! I was told", she said.

Fred let go of her hands and straightened up, "Oh. Right. Well, I should get you up into the common room now"

Ember nodded. They walked up the stairs in silence. Once they got to the portrait, Fred said aloud the password and let Ember go in the hole before himself.

She walked into the warm and empty room. Usually there would be students scattered throughout the room chatting to one another. But since everyone was in class, the entirety of Gryffindor Tower was most likely empty.

Fred closed the common room door behind him and walked over to a faded red sofa. He set Ember's book bag down onto the cushions and crossed his arms over his chest.

"I should get back to class now. Professor McGonagall will probably give me detention . . . again"

"You're going to leave me?", she asked.

Fred raised his eyebrows and breathed in, "Uh well. Do you want me to stay?"

Ember nodded, "I don't like being alone"

Fred plopped down on a chair next to the small fire still going in the fireplace. "If you still had your memories, you would've been begging me to leave you alone"

Ember walked over to the closest seat next to him and sat down, "Did I not like your company?"

Fred laughed to himself, "Something like that yeah"

She stared at him looking like she wanted more of an explanation or story.

He pursed his lips, "You uhm, didn't like me very much before you lost your memories. You kind of hated me actually"

Ember wrinkled her eyebrows, "What? Why? Did you do something to me that made me feel that way?"

Fred sighed and leaned back into the chair, "Yeah I did. I did a lot of messed up shit to you Em. And why? I don't really know"

Ember turned her gaze towards the small fire, "You must know why you did it. There's always a reason"

He looked up from fidgeting with his hands to her. He saw the way her golden blonde hair was tucked behind her ear in a soft graceful manner. He saw the way she hugged herself for comfort. He saw the way her long eyelashes gently hit her under eyes every time she blinked. He saw the way-

"Fred?"

He snapped out of his long gaze and glanced up to her eyes which were focused on him.

"Sorry I was just-"

"Why did you do that stuff to me?", she asked curiously.

Fred exhaled deeply, "I didn't think I was good enough for you"
