Darkness.

That's all Maria sees as she's thrown to the ground, trying to shuffle backwards but hitting a wall. She feels someone in front of her, most likely crouching down before feeling a blade trace the skin on her arm. A bag is ripped from her head and she squints in the light before her blurred vision adjusts and she sees Bellatrix LeStrange crouched in front of her with a malicious grin on her face.

Maria had sobered up as soon as Bellatrix and her husband had snatched her from the gates of the Potter manor. The brunette leans her head back, trying to get as far away from Bellatrix as humanly possible as the LeStrange traces the dagger up the sixteen year old's neck and onto her cheek.
The Potter girl takes the time to look around the room, the wallpaper like roots or branches of a tree with stitched pictures and names on them. She then sees Rodolphus and Rabastan LeStrange smirking wildly behind Bellatrix. Her eyes wander further and freeze on a tousle haired boy who is gaping with an unreadable expression on his face. She sees Narcissa Malfoy looking scared for the girl against the wall and next to her her husband Lucius.

"Hello, lovely." Bellatrix grins at her and Maria lets out a shaky breath at the intimidating proximity between hers and Bellatrix's faces. "Walked a bit too far from the garden, didn't we?"

Maria thinks about what she was doing before she was swept away by Bellatrix and Rodolphus, wandering way past the boundary of the Potter Manor's enchantments — despite their parents constantly reminding the two Potters and Sirius — but being intoxicated it was hard to tell where she could and couldn't go up to. She swallows thickly, now realising that it's completely her fault that she's in this situation.

Meanwhile, Regulus Black is pacing up and down his bedroom, trying to come up with some sort of plan to help her. He can't let his parents know that he cares for her, not even his deranged cousins. And, if he busted in there and started shooting spells randomly they'd waste no time killing him on the spot and then killing the Potter girl anyway. No, he had to think strategically. For some way to get in contact with Potter and his dream team without his family finding out.

Then it comes to him, in his parents bedroom stands a large fireplace connected to almost every fireplace in the UK, it must be connected to the Potter Manor also. If he can sneak in there without his parents knowing, he can alert James and the others and save Maria.

He grabs his wand from his desk — he's still underaged, but if it's about survival he'll need to go to his only option — and he strolls sneakily from his bedroom, avoiding all of the floorboards that he knows creak. After spending 16, almost 17, years living in a house with abusive parents and horrible cousins him and Sirius had basically mapped the entire house; which floorboards creak, how far doors will go until they squeak loudly, even a secret vent that goes from Sirius' old bedroom to outside in the muggle street.
