Some info on the characters:
○Dawson was assigned female at birth but is non-binary.
○Dawson and Schlatt adopted Lani.
○Dawson has Toby call them ma because they were okay with it and couldn't think of anything at the time.
○They had just came out as non-binary a week after the wedding.
○Dawson's dead name was way too girly for their liking and Schlatt came up with Dawson.
○Dawson does not consider Toby their step child, he is their son.

I hope this gives a bit of insight on them. I wanted to add Lani in as well I'm not sure if non-binarys assigned female at birth would feel comfy giving birth and didn't want to make any non-binary people upset because body dismorphia is VERY real.
So I wanted to be as respectful as I possibly could. If this crosses any boundaries please let me know so I can adjust it.
