Bird seeds - changlix

Warnings: slight mention of depression

Felix sat on the wooden bench beside a playground. It was a fairly sunny day; there were fluffy white clouds in the sky but not enough for the sun to not show. Felix usually came to feed the birds everyday but he was afraid the birds didn't like him. See, even though he comes there everyday, they don't trust him; a human. Felix understands. He wouldn't trust himself either.

Felix fumbled with the plastic bag of seeds in his coat's pocket while tears threatened to fall from his eyes. The birds only came to eat the seeds he threw on the group for him when he left. He knew the age them because when he came back the next day, they were gone but, it hurts his feelings to see the birds wait for him to leave.

He really loved birds. They always made him so happy. The way they chirped lit up his day and the sounds their feathers make when they flap their wings is just so pretty and elegant. He wish he could be a bird in his next life.

"Mind if I sit here?"

Felix's thoughts were interrupted by a male's voice.

"Go ahead."

Felix took the bird seeds out of his pocket and hesitantly opened the bag. He didn't know if he should throw them or not. It might seem selfish, but he just really really wanted to see the birds enjoy the bird seeds he got for them.

"You like to feed the birds?"

Felix turned his head towards the man; why was he talking to him?

"Yeah."

The man inhaled and shifted in his seat, obviously uncomfortable with the fact that Felix won't start a conversation with him.

"Do you..uh..like birds..?"

Felix nodded, "Yes."

The man excitedly gasped, "R-really?? I like birds too!"

"Yeah. That's cool."

The man furrowed his eyebrows, "What's your favorite kind of bird?"

"Pigeons."

"Pigeons? Why?"

"I think they're cute. The way they coo and waddle is so cute to me. I really like them. I go out into the city just to see them. Sometimes they land on my apartment's balcony and I get to see them without going outside but when I try to get close the fly away. It kind of hurts my feelings but I understand that they're scared of me."

The man blinked, "This guy has a lot of problems." He thought to himself.

"Oh..well, uh..what's your name?"

Felix turned his head towards the man, "Felix."

The man nodded, "Ooh a foreign name," he chuckled, "I'm Changbin."

Changbin held out his hand to shake and which Felix did, "Nice to meet you Changbin."

Felix grabbed a few seeds from the bag and threw them in front of him, "They never eat them while I'm here but I always try. It's kind of sad and embarrassing."

Changbin watched as Felix threw some seeds onto the concrete, "Well, you could try calling them?"

"Calling them like how?"

"Making noises with your mouth!"

Changbin made a noice with his mouth; various kissing noises. Birds stared at him but none came down next to him.

"Ah..I guess I was wrong," Changbin chuckled and rubbed the back of his neck.

Felix slightly chuckled, "I just give up after some time."

Changbin stayed silent for a while, "Why do you visit the birds?"

"I've always wanted a bird," Felix shifted in his seat, "But my parents told me not to. If they found out I got a bird, they would get mad at me for disobeying them."

Changbun raised an eyebrow, "Just because you got a bird?"

Felix nodded.

"Oh. Well, I have a bird-"

"You do?? Can I see it?? Please?! What kind is it?? Is it a parakeet?? Or a cockatoo?? You look like the type of person to have a grey parrot actually- Oh! Or a Cockatiel-!"

Changbin cut the boy off by laughing.

"Why are you laughing??"

"You really like birds. It's cute."

"Cute-?" Felix felt himself blush.

"Yes. Cute," Changbin scooted closer to the boy, "do you..um..come here everyday?"

Felix smiled as he nodded, "Yeah I do."

"Oh so then I'll see you here tomorrow right?"

Felix's face got hot, "Y-yeah.."

Changbin slightly smirked, "I know we just met but do you want to go out sometime?"

Felix felt like he was going to explode, "Of- Of course-!"

Changbin smiled and got off the bench, "Alright. Here's my number," Changbin gave Felix a small piece of paper to the boy.

"Call me."

Changbin walked away leaving Felix a blushing, flustered mess.
