FREEDOM

First day of school.

"Hi! I'm Bea, you are?" Gulat akong napatingin sa babaeng nagpapakilala saakin.

"H-hi. I'm Klea."

"Nice to meet you, we're friends now." Nakangiting sabi n'ya pa saka naupo sa tabi ko.

Ilang minuto pa akong napatingin sakanya bago nabaling ang atensyon ko sa babae'ng kakatapok lang ng silid namin.

"Good morning everyone." Pormal na sabi nito habang nakangiti pa. Namamanghang napatitig ako sa maamong mukha n'ya

Natahimik ang buong section namin ng magsalita s'ya.

"I am glad to have you in my class. I will be your subject teacher in Values Education. My name is Rachel Sanchez again, good morning."

"Good morning Ms. Sanchez." Bati ng lahat.

"You may all sit down." Naupo na ang lahat habang s'ya naman ay pinapanood lang kami.

"Okay, no need to introduce yourselves, matagal naman tayong magsasama sama kaya alam kong makikilala ko rin kayo.

"Our topic for today is about FREEDOM." Panimula ni Ms. Sanchez. "Meron ba sainyong nais na magbahagi ng tungkol sa pagkakaroon ng kalayaan?"

"Ma'am!" Magiliw na tawag sakanya ng kaklase kong lalaki.

"Yes, Mr?"

"Robles po."

"Okay, Mr. Robles, share us your thoughts."

"Freedom is about doing thinks that you like."

"Yes that's right, very good Mr. Robles. Sino pa?" Tanong ni ma'am habang naglalakad lakad sa buong classroom.

"Ma'am!" Si Bea naman ang nag taas ng kamay ngayon.

"Yes Ms?"

"Bea po"

"Okay, Ms. Bea, what's yours?"

"Freedom is when you're happy."

"Hm? How'd you say so?"

"Kase po kapag masaya ka, malaya mo pong nailalabas yung emosyon mo po."

"Very good Ms. Bea. Sino pa?" Tanong ulit ni Ms. habang nakatayo sa may hulihan. "Wala na?" Lumingon lingon pa sya sa lahat ng studyante bago ngumiti at naglakad papunta sa unahan.

"There's a lot that we can say about freedom. For me, having a freedom si doing the things that you love and feeling happy of what your are doing. There are a lot of aspects of FREEDOM. Are you having a freedom right now?" Tanong ni Ms. pero walang sumagot dahil lahat ay tutok sa kung anong sasabihin n'ya.

"Of course, you are. Libre mong nagagawa ang mga gusto mo, may freedom ka para huminga, freedom na makinig at matuto. There are two types of freedom. First, Positive Freedom. Second, Negative Freedom. When we say positive freedom, ito yung freedom na masaya ka, masaya kang ginagawa yung mga gusto mong gawin ng walang humahadlang, ito yung freedom na nakakahinga ka ng maluwag na para bang walang ibang tao sa paligid mo na pwedeng sirain yung kasiyahan mo, yung para bang sarili mo ang mundo and when we say Negative Freedom, ito yung freedom na ginagawa mo kase kailangan mong gawin, ito yung freedom na ginagawa mo pero hindi ka masaya, kaya nga Negative. Some of you will ask, bakit natawag na freedom kung hindi masaya? Bakit natawag na freedom kung ginagawa mo yun dahil kailangan? That's why it's called negative freedom because you can do it freely but you're not happy while doing it. Did you get my point? Let's say for example. I have a negative freedom because of my hand. My hand can't wrote but I need to. Why can't I? Because I am paralyzed, my one hand is paralyzed. Sadly, yung right arm ko pa yung naparalize kung saan ako sanay mag sulat. I am free to wrote whatever I want to wrote but I am not happy by doing it. I want to be a writer back when I was on my high school days. But I can't write. How can I be a writer if I can't write? But I need to write, because kung hindi ako magsusulat babagsak ako sa lahat ng subject, kaya nag practice ako mag sulat using my left hand so I can pass my subjects. And now that I know how to write using my left arm, I am now having my Positive Freedom because I am now writing not because I need to but because I want to write at masaya ako sa tuwing nag susulat ako. Every positive freedom has its negative side, and every negative freedom has its positive side. I want you all to know that you should love everything around you, love your flaws and imperfections, love those people around you before it's too late. If you can't love the things you hate, then you'll never be happy having those things in your life, but when you love everything around you, you will be happy everywhere you go, whatever you do and you will have that positive freedom in your whole life. Remember that positivity always win. Did you get my point? " nakangiting pagtatapos ni Ms sa sinasabi n'ya.

"YEESSSSS!!!!" Lahat ay ganado sa pag recite matapos ng mga sinabi ni Ms sa harapan.

Halos lahat ay hindi maka get over sa lesson ni ma'am ngayong araw. Lahat at namangha sa kwento ni ma'am as sa mga aral n'ya. I think I have a favorite teacher now.
