The next morning Eleanor woke up, she wanted to talk to jacob alone.
She got ready while jacob was waking up.
"jacob we need to talk," she told him
"about?" he asked her
"us." she told him, "get ready, i don't wanna go anywhere just here."
Jacob understood her and went quickly to get ready. When he finally came back he sat down on the edge of the bed facing her.
"jacob, you know that i love you and want the best for you, myself, and us in general right?" she asked him and he nodded
"well i think the best for us is to not be together right now. not until we are both sure about what want" she told him
"why this sudden change eleanor? we were doing so great yesterday, we have good communication and everything has been going perfect," he told her
"you can stop lying to me and yourself jacob. cuddling with lexi for revenge wasn't perfect. fighting over planning a party is not good communication." she told her
"what?" he asked confused on where she got the information.
"ive seen the picture jacob." she told him, "listen can we just take the break and still be friends?" she asked him
"we can grow more, and then see if it's each other who we actually want. i don't want you to go with my best friend everytime we argue." she told him
"if that's what you want, then we can do it. i'm sorry eleanor." he told her
"no it's fine." she said trying not to make things worse, "we can still be close friends you know?" she was telling him
"yeah i know," he smiled, "i wouldn't wanna not be your friend."
"yeah same." she told him
the two stayed in the room for an hour, cuddling maybe for the last time in weeks or months. listening to eleanors sad playlist she had since forever.
maybe shed a little tear, truthfully none of them wanted to let go. but both had to heal. without healing there wouldn't be a cute healthy relationship. it would be a broken toxic one.

— Eleanor had gone downstairs where none of her friends were, her sister had gone off already. It was just her and Jacob. She wanted to go home already but didn't want to leave without friends.
"they'll understand eleanor," jacob told her
"i know but it just feels shady," she told him
"just write them a note." he told her going into the kitchen to eat because he was starving from being in the room for two hours.
"k thanks," she said and wrote them a long note appreciating the birthday party, and the hangouts they had while she was in atlanta.
She finished writing and got her things to start packing. Jacob was obviously trying not to show his feelings knowing it would hurt eleanor more and that was the least he wanted.
"bye jacob," she said to him as she hugged him
"until next time eleanor," he hugged her back tightly, eleanor looked at him and placed a kiss on his lip and left to the airport where she caught her plane back to california.
