The two best friends fell asleep in each other's arms, and Navy comforted Clara as she shook in her hold.

She was concerned for her friend. Clara had never been like this before. Usually, she was the reasonable one and not Navy, but that book had done something to her, something that took her best friend and turned her into a walking mess.

Navy had whispered calming things into Clara's ear all night, mostly about that little flower shop they were meant to open when they grew up.

They always talked about it. Ever since they were kids, they planned that flower shop both of them wanted to start as they quit school, but even if that was close, school ending seemed more than far away.

As the morning arose and the early winter sun sparked through the glass of her windows, they both woke up, and Navy decided to bring her brother into this.

William knew more about the diary Clara carried so dearly than she did.

They had to destroy it, and it couldn't wait any longer because each day the group of friends held from doing so, the worse Clara got.

Her mind didn't belong to her anymore, and Tom Riddle had possessed her spirit with his manipulation and his dark embrace.

Clara was trapped and hooked into the dimmest side of magic.

''Will.'' Navy knocked on his door as he opened it, ''We need to talk.''

He looked at her, bewildered as to why his sister was doing at his dorm this early.

''What are you—'' His eyes flickered to the girl standing behind Navy, and his words immediately hushed, ''And what is she...''

''William,'' Navy warned, raising a brow at him, ''Let us in.''

''Fine,'' Her brother muttered instead, sliding the door even wider for the two girls to step inside, ''Come in.''

Navy led Clara to his bed, settling the girl on it before turning back to her brother, ''We need to talk about the diary, William.'' She shot Clara a worried look, ''This can't go on any longer.''

''I know.'' Will's fingers scratched at his jawline, crossing his arms after, ''As I said, we need certain tools to destroy it. It's so dark...the magic. You can't just destroy a thing like that.''

''I know.'' Clara rose from the bed, ''I'm well aware, so you don't have to hide anything from me.''

Both of the siblings stared at her before giving each other a concerned look.

''Clara, you don't have to be a part of this.'' Navy's hand placed on her shoulder, ''We can take care of it. You don't need to do anything.''

''But you don't know how to destroy it, right?'' Clara shot back as the exhausted mantle on her features fell into an even more agonizing one, ''Because I do. I know how to destroy it.''

William blinked quickly. Not even his weeks and weeks of research had gotten him any answers, and he was so shocked that she had one, ''H— how?''

''Tom told me.'' Clara's sights grounded as if she was ashamed to tell them the truth. In her head, she was betraying Tom by doing so, and it hurt, feeling as if she failed him.

''Why would he tell you how to destroy the one thing that's keeping him here?'' Navy looked more than confused as she slipped down onto William's bed, ''If he's trying to hurt you... It doesn't make any sense.''
