Song : Bang Bang - GRAE

---

A bead of sweat travelled down my the back of my neck, leaving behind a cool line of water as I tried to hold in a sneeze, triggered by the musty clothes we were amongst. My need to sneeze quickly flit to the back of my head as another gunshot rang through the thin walls of the strip joint.

I involuntarily ducked, a reflex I hadn't yet grown out of and another girl let out a small squeal.

My eyes snapped to the back of her head, she was going to give us away. I took a piece of her bleached blonde hair and pulled hard, letting her know that she needed to be quiet.

Now was no time for coddling.

A few more shots were fired and I couldn't help but relax a little as they got further and further away. I surveyed the newbies, crouched at Robin and I's feet, both silently crying into their palms.

It was one hell of a first day for them.

I sighed, knowing that I had to comfort the newbies or else they won't be coming back, and even though this situation would traumatize anyone, possibly making them never want to show their face again, I knew I would get the brunt of the blame from the boss.

"Girls, it'll be over soon." I said, trying to be empathetic but just resulted in them crying a little harder.

Robin smirked at my feeble attempt of calming them.

"What - what if we die?" The blondie asked through her snotty palms, almost making me turn my nose away.

"They won't kill us, we're too valuable, worst case scenario is probably human trafficking." I stated truthfully, which seemed like the wrong thing to say when both of the girls looked towards me, eyes as wide as an owl.

"Human trafficking?" The brunette pitched in, her voice trembling as she looked from her palms, wide eyed.

I cleared my throat, shifting my weight to my left foot as I realized that telling them they might get sold into a human trafficking ring was possibly not the best way to comfort them.

"Yeah, but that's the worst case, remember? Boss will probably sort them out before that happens." Robin said in her most soothing voice possible, placing her hands on the girls shoulder.

I couldn't help but roll my eyes when she brought up the boss.

"If I were a betting woman I'd say that the Boss has up and left us here, we're just a dime a dozen for him."

Robin slapped the back of my head, making me realize what had just slipped. I cursed myself and my big mouth, we were supposed to be comforting them.

I was just about to say something else when yet another gunshot rang through the building, much closer than it was the last time.

Too close.
