chapter 25

"just come home with me for the next few days until you're ready to see your dad again"
skylar offered.

"it's gonna make things even worse and pretty awkward with emma"
nate said.

"nate i said we can just drop it. but you keep bringing it up. was that kiss that important to you" she scolded.

he clenched his jaw
and didn't say anything

"so what? is this going to be a thing now? where i have to wait around for you to pick between me and my own sister?" she began raising her voice. she was pushing him as she yelled at him.

"skylar shut up"
"if you have feelings for her nate,just fucking tell me. i'm not gonna wait around for you"
she scolded.

"no i don't have fucking feelings for her"
"mhm that kiss didn't look like you had no feelings" she said.

he got closer to her and wrapped his hand around her neck and pushed her against his wall.

he began to hold her neck even tighter.
she struggled to breath
"nate stop"
she cried.
but he didn't. he just kept looking at her.
she let tears fall out of her eyes
"are you done?"
he yelled.

she nodded her head and aggressively let go of her.

she walked to his bed
"nate if you haven't feelings for her just tell me"

he was pacing around his bedroom
"skylar stop fucking talking about it"
he scolded.
she threw her arms up and stood up.

she walked to his doorway and turned to him.
"you coming?"
he nodded his head.

they walked down the stairs
she handed him her keys so he could drive them back to her house.

when they got in her car she sat in the passengers seat and her facial expressions made it clear that she was pissed off.

she brought her knees close to her chest and rested her head on her knees.

"i'm sorry i got so angry"
nate whispered.
she turned to him and looked at him.
"it's okay"
she said.

he nodded his head and turned back to focus on the road.

when they pulled into her driveway they both got out and went upstairs into her room.

it was already 5 am.
they both got into her bed.

she put her head on his chest and shut her eyes.
she fell asleep and he did shortly after.

the next day-

they woke up at 12 in the afternoon.

nate got up to take a shower in her bathroom.
"i'll be in,in a sec" she said.
he nodded.

she got out of her bed to make it quickly and then went into the bathroom.

she brushed her teeth at the sink.
she washed her face.

nate got out of the shower shortly after.

she threw on a pair of ripped jean shorts and one of his shirts.

he threw on a pair of jeans and a white tee shirt.

she grabbed her phone off of her nightstand and slipped it into her back pocket.

her and nate went downstairs.
stella was on the couch wagging her tail waiting for them to go pet her.

nate sat with her and pet her.
skylar sat next to nate.

"you okay now?"
she asked nate. referring to his meltdown last night.
he shrugged his shoulders.
"i'm sorry i got so angry with you"
he apologized again?
"nate i told you it's okay. i shouldn't have brought her up"
she said.
he nodded his head and put his arm over her.

she tucked her head next to his neck and they both stared at the tv that wasn't even on.

emma came down the stairs.
"can we talk?" she asked the two of them.
skylar looked up and nate who looked at her.
"yeah what's up" nate asked.

"look skylar i'm really sorry i kissed him. it was me who initiated it. nate was the one saying no. i don't want to ruin anything between you guys. and nate i know i told you i was in love with you but i was a little drunk and definitely didn't mean what was coming out of my mouth. i'm really sorry if i caused issues between you two"
she said.

"it's okay em. i love you"
skylar said
"i love you"
emma said.
nate didn't say much. he nodded his head and smiled.

later that day...
skylar and nate were in the living room
emma was upstairs
"i'll be right back"
nate said.
"where you going?"
skylar asked.
"i think i left my phone charger in your room"
he lied.
she nodded her head and he went upstairs
but instead of going up there to get his charger,he was going up there to talk to emma.

"hey" he said walking into her room.
"hey" she half smiled.
"i don't want things to be awkward between us. i feel like we aren't even as close as we used to be. i know your sister takes up a lot of my time and i'm always with her and not you,but i want you to know that i still care about you. and i always will"
nate said.
"nate i'm sorry i made things weird with the whole kiss thing. i want you to know i'm grateful that you take care of skylar the way you do."
she said.
he nodded his head and gave her a hug.
"we can just pretend the kiss didn't happen"
emma said.
"what kiss?"
nate joked.
emma jokingly rolled her eyes and hit his chest.

he laughed and walked back downstairs.
"did you find it?"
skylar asked him as he made his way back to the couch."
"find what?"
"your charger"
"uh yeah" he lied.
