R.A.B. thinking about his obnoxious big brother, frequently.

The summer of Betelgeuse's sixteen birthday was the most unusually chaotic and wonderfully extraordinary of her entire life.

Sirius has been keeping in touch with Harry Potter even if the boy could not come live with his godfather. Regulus had heavily reprimanded Betelgeuse and Sirius for having scared the Muggle uncle of Harry. Sirius could have cared less about his little brother's nagging because Harry now was able to have all his school things with him.

The Dursleys had never allowed this before, Sirius had explained to the two stoic Blacks. The Muggles' wish of keeping Harry as miserable as possible, coupled with their fear of his magic, had led them to lock his school trunk in the cupboard under the stairs every summer before this. But their attitude had changed since they had found out that Harry had a dangerous murderer for a godfather — for Harry had conveniently forgotten to tell them that Sirius was innocent.

Betelgeuse smirked as she recalled the scared round face of Vernon Dursley.

Sirius had sent the spectacled boy two letters since he had been back at Grimmauld Place. And in Sirius' perfect extravagant fashion, both had been delivered, not by owls, but by large, brightly coloured tropical birds. Regulus had grumbled about how unnecessarily flamboyant the use of those outrageously humungous birds was. But Betelgeuse knew better, the Black brothers both embraced extravagance with a touch of excess.

A few weeks after Betelgeuse's return home, as if awakened from a deep slumber, Regulus had remembered his daughter's O.W.L.s. results, declaring that a grandiose eventide celebration was in order.

Talk about excess.

Betelgeuse and Sirius had followed the younger brother through his frantic preparation of the evening feast, trying to temper his enthusiasm. They had ceased their attempts after Regulus had jinxed Sirius' hair without an ounce of remorse because the older Black brother had labelled useless all the preparations.

The three members of House Black spent a pleasant evening, all dressed in the best robes they possessed, enjoying the exquisite banquet that Kreacher had prepared and chatting about multiple topics. They all were strong-willed individuals, opinionated and well versed in the art of conversing. None of the three desired to withdraw from their positions, supporting their beliefs with studied mastery.
