Y/n's POV

The quinjet touched down on the moorland. We were back in Cornwall. I had called up a holiday agency the previous afternoon and they had found a two bed cottage for us to rent for a few weeks. It was tucked away on the edge of the moors and was far enough from places to avoid attention. "Reminds me of Clint's safe house." Steve remarked as we left the quinjet. There was a black car waiting for us outside so we could have the keys. A woman in a beige dress stepped out of the car, looking a little worried as we walked towards her with our suits on.

"That's quite the thing you have there." She frowned at the jet and then looked us up and down. With a shaky hand she gave me the key. "Are you like special airforce or...?"

"Yeah something like that." Nat replied, heading off to the cottage.

"Thanks." I shook the ladies hand before heading up the path with Nat.

"It's nice to be back in the countryside again." Nat smiled, looking around the small kitchen.

"Brings back good memories." I sighed, checking out the living room.

"Cute." Sam said, looking around the small entrance hall.

"Did Wanda ever call you back?" Steve asked, I shook my head with a frown. My heart sank thinking about it. What if she was hurt or missing. She wouldn't have changed her number. But none of it mattered now, I had half my team with me.

"Y/n, do you know where the nearest shop is. We need to get food." Nat reminded me.

"Oh yeah. Um I didn't think about that, it's like a 15 minute walk to the nearest village I think then a bus to a supermarket." I told them, scratching my head when I realised we had no car.

"Best get going then, Steve we'll need you to carry bags." Nat smirked. We abandoned our bags in the kitchen and set off down the path towards the road. I looked on google maps and found a bridleway that cut straight to the village. "You know if you didn't have us you'd probably lose your own head." Sam joked and I hit him in the arm. "Careful now L/n, you don't want to start something you can't win!"

"Oh of course not Sam. I wouldn't dream of beating your ass." I said in an innocent voice.

"Children, children, children. You know it will end in tears." Steve said, patting me on the head.

"Watch yourself Rogers." I smiled, wiggling my fingers are him.

"This is going to be a long day!" Nat sighed.

We eventually made it to the closest Tesco's. Sam insisted on pushing the trolley, like a child he would take his feet of the floor and ride down the isles. We started in the veg and fruit isle, picking up some tomatoes and apples before moving on. Sam was fascinated by all the food he had never seen before. Particularly hobb nobbs. "Fine get them!" Steve huffed. Natasha wanted to let the boys try crumpets and scones so we had to get them as well.

"You milk bottles are strange." Steve said, picking up a 4 pint of milk.

"Not really. You just put orange juice in a bottle like that and keep milk in cartons." I told him, picking up three bottles.

"Remember back in Steve's day they used glass bottles." Nat teased.

"Is that just what all of this is. The past few weeks you have teased me repeatedly for being from the past."

"It's all fun and games. You know we love you for who you are." I hugged Steve and he smiled.

"We need some pizza." Nat said randomly. I agreed and we headed for the frozen isle. Then we paid and left with our bags. We couldn't get too much frozen food because it was a warm day and we had to walk for a while. We waited in silence at the bus stop until the bus came. It took us back to the village where we would walk back to the house. We had made sure to spread the shopping into more bags in order to minimise the weight. Steve had the two heaviest bags, containing the milk and tins. The rest of us carried the lighter tuff back down the old bridleway. "This makes a nice change to New York." Sam pointed out.

"Yes, it's peaceful." Steve sighed, looking around at the birds that darted around overhead.

I cooked spaghetti bolognese that evening. Steve offered, but the other's protested knowing just how bad of a cook cap was. Nat sat on the counter talking to me whilst I stirred the sauce. "You know, I don't really miss the spy life anymore. I'm liking the quiet life."

"I am surprised." I smiled, walking to stand between her legs. I rested my head on her chest and she wrapped her arms around my body. She kissed the top of my head.

"It's nice, not nearly dying all the time." She said. I was a little shocked by how strong the statement was, although it was true. I went back to stirring the food, my free hand intertwined with Natasha's. I looked back at the boys who were flicking through the television channels. "Mrs Browns Boys?" Steve said hesitantly. "Is that any good Y/n?" He called.

"Absolutely!" I called back. It was a show that I knew I always laughed at. He put it on and I smiled at the familiar sound of the actor's voice.

"Is that?" Sam went to ask but sort of didn't.

"A man? Yes. And the daughter is his real wife." I told him. Steve frowned at the television. "My dad loved that program. They stopped airing it for a while, they must have brought it back." I felt small tears prickle my eyes but ignored them as I returned to the pasta. I dished up and we all sat around the dining table, just like old times.
