(This takes place after y/n decides she doesn't trust Grandpa Zhongli anymore but before y/n gets one-shotted by an Abyss Herald)

3rd Person POV

Y/n didn't have much interest in things most young women her age did.

Shopping was one of those things.

But after Osiris asked her to go shopping with Keqing since he had to take care of his mother, y/n found that shopping was something she did enjoy.

Well, he hadn't asked her to or shopping with Keqing. He'd asked her to take his place as the female's personal bag holder in exchange for food later.

Of course, y/n agreed. Because food!

"To be honest, I don't think I'll wear any of these anytime soon...!" y/n was saying as her and Keqing walked away from Liyue Harbor together, holding a lot of bags, "They look nice but I can't see myself wearing them to be honest."

"Well, you can't see yourself wearing them until you actually put them on and stand in front of a mirror." Keqing pointed out and y/n huffed.

"I hate the fact that you're right..." y/n murmured then beamed, "Eh, I'll try them on sometime in the future."

The h/c haired girl had never imagined herself getting along with Keqing. But very recently, y/n decided to give the female a chance and was glad she did.

"You know, y/n, I didn't notice it before but you have very unique eyes." Keqing pointed out and y/n tilted her head.

"My eyes?" y/n echoed, "Huh, I don't look at my reflection much so I wouldn't see any difference between my eyes and any other person's eyes."

Keqing smiled, "Would you like me to describe them to you?"

"Sure." y/n chirped then stopped, "Oh."

"What is it?" Keqing inquired and followed y/n's gaze, her mood also darkening when she spotted what y/n saw.

"Fatui." the females said in usion.

There was indeed a group of fatui skirmishers up ahead, about six of them total.

"What're we gonna do about the bags?" y/n inquired, staring at their bags of clothes, shoes and other things with sad eyes.

"We could just leave them here." Keqing suggested, "I doubt anyone will take them."

Y/n made a sad noise then shook her head, "Okay... I have an idea...!"

She leaned close to whisper in Keqing's ear. The lavender eyed female nodded, humming quietly as y/n shared her idea.

"Ohh, I see..." Keqing murmured, "Are you sure? You could get hurt you know."

"Yeahhhh but getting hurt is nothing new to me." y/n chuckled, "So... can we?"

"Hm... I don't see why not..."

•••

'Being this short is good for one thing...'

"E-Excuse me Mister?" y/n asked in her best kid voice as she tugged on the sleeve of a pyro slinger, e/c eyes wide.

"Huh?" the pyroslinger questioned then looked down at her, "Oh, a kid."

He crouched down to y/n's level and y/n couldn't help but scream at how short she was compared to him, "What're you doing out here by yourself? Where are your parents?"

"I... I can't find my Mommy." y/n said, eyes welling up with tears, "My big brother said you guys are good at finding people. C-Can you help me find my Mommy?"

"Look kid, we can't help you. Now run along before your big brother's advice ends up getting you killed!" one of the other skirmishers snapped, pointing their rather large hammer at the girl.

'Okay, an electrohammer dude... two anemoboxers... a geochanter... a pyro slinger and...'

"Calm down, it's just a kid!" an electro cicin mage chirped with a smile, walking over to pick up y/n and hug her protectively, "Tell you what, Tris and I help her find her way home and you guys can stay here! That way, we won't really be abandoning our posts!"

'A really cute Electro Cincin Mage.'

Y/n guessed that the Pyroslinger was named Tris since he stood up again and walked over to stand beside the cincin mage.

Y/n was starting to realize just how small she was and genuinely began to wonder if she would get any taller.

"Tch, fine by me." one of the anemoboxers scoffed and the cincin mage beamed, setting y/n down again.

"Alright! C'mon, let's go find your Mom!" she chirped and the trio began making their way away from the group.

Y/n aggressively sneezed, which was the signal she'd set up for Keqing to attack.

"Hey, I really appreciate you two." y/n said in her normal voice, startling startling two fatui soldiers, "Tris and...?"

"Anya." the cincin mage replied.

"Well, Tris and Anya. I will spare you because you two aren't douchebags like the rest of your co-workers!" y/n said, crossing her arms then dug in her pockets for two bags of mora, "A tip for your troubles!"

Anya and Tris curiously looked down at the generous amount of money y/n had given them.

The cincin mage beamed, "Wow, thank you! Do me a favor and rip those guys a new one for me, alright?"

"Huh? Did they do something?"

"The real question is what didn't they do..."

Tris looked at the fuming cincin mage, "Anya here is anything but fragile, trust me. But those idiots over there do get to her with their sexist comments from time to time."

"Tris is the only one who gets them to chill." Anya added, "If he wasn't here, who knows what they would've done at this point."

"Ohhh, I see..." y/n murmured then gave the two a thumbs up, "Todo! I'll be sure to beat them up for you! Thanks again. Anya, Tris!"

The two fatui members waved to y/n as she ran back to Keqing, her axe out and ready for action.

"Sorry I'm late!" y/n apologized, whacking an anemoboxer on the back of the head and knocking him out, "That Pyroslinger and Cincin Mage were really nice so I wanted to keep them out of the fight."

"Fatui members? Nice?" Keqing inquired. She was extremely good at taking and fighting, y/n was impressed.

"I mean, they didn't attack when they thought I was a kid and were actually gonna help me. And when I started talking normally again, they still didn't attack." y/n pointed out and yelped when one of the Geochanter's attacks hit her in the back, "OW, YOU JERK!"

Keqing handled that issue, darting forward while y/n swatted at the air. Y/n couldn't help but admire how quick her friend was.

Hold on. Friend?

Were they friends now?

She would have to ask.

"Heh, take that you jerks!" y/n laughed, pointing at the fatui skirmishers, all of them probably unconscious.

"What about the other two?" Keqing asked as they returned to their bags, happy to see that all the things they'd brought were not stolen or harmed.

"They're chill." y/n replied as the duo began walking again, "Hey, does this mean we're friends now, Keqing?"

"I mean... if you want to be. I take friendship very seriously though." Keqing replied and y/n smiled.

"Don't worry! I'll make it worth it!"

(Anya and Tris will be important later)

(Like, second book later)

(So don't worry about em)
